What A Strange Measurement.

Been watching a couple of documentaries tonight, one was about the solar system, did you know all the planets and so on, are drifting apart at about the same distance our nails grow per year.
In another, the continents are drifting apart at the same rate our nails grow per year.

Then there was one that said, for a change, our nails grow as much per year as a deep sea coral expands.

Who invented this new form of measurement and what standard are they using to ensure that all our nails grow at the same rate?

Just cut my nails, does that mean that the moon etc. have now moved a little closer to Earth?

If you got a lady chiropodist to cut them, maybe the Earth would move for you ;)
