Just had a walk on lancaster avenue with the dogs, could see the smoke and smell it very strongly. Wondered where the fire was, now i know.

Thanks for the Jaegermeister last night, Stagger'. It was much appreciated.
Unless Royski has poured the stuff down my neck in the midst of a drunken stuppor, it's the first time I've ever sampled it. Lettie, on the other hand... what can I say... a seasoned palate.

Re: Lardiz On Fire???

The roving reporter has reported that it is opium that has gone up. Apparently it is so bad that there is no longer a roof on the building. Photo's did not come out I am afraid! :(

Re: Lardiz On Fire???

I also went for a look after work, plenty of flames, there was one fireman saying that he hoped the cylinders didn't explode...after that I made a swift exit.

Theres now two planes flying around the accy area, anyone else curious what their doing?

accymel 02-12-2004 22:26

I got these today. Not much to see really. The road was still sealed off to traffic this afternoon.

Re: Lardiz On Fire???

Has any news been forthcoming yet regarding the cause of the fire? Was it a few gallons of something high octane? Could the fire have been started by some dodgy wiring.

Re: Lardiz On Fire???

Just driven past, some streets are still sealed off. Tonights Telegraph seems to think the cause is "suspicious".

Well I’m glad Lardiz is ok; it must have been a worry for Bazh.

A few of us were planning on going to Ladiz this weekend, but it now looks like it may be closed for the time being. :s_cry:

Re: Lardiz On Fire???

Lettie did that used to be the Bees Knees or the Plough?

lettie 03-12-2004 16:52

Re: Lardiz On Fire???

It used to be the Berkley. The large function room upstairs was turned into Opium and the small function room downstairs became the Voodoo Lounge..

That may be so, but not this Sparky. I'll have you know I was on t'other side of th' Atlantic when that place was wired up.
I would be bricking it now, waiting for a knock on the door, if I had been involved though. :D

Before it was the Berkley it used to be the Sunday School department of Cannon Street Baptist Church, that was before the church was altered to accomodate schoolrooms inside the actual church building. Prior to that I believe it was a Baptist day school of the ordinary educational variety.
