Santa's Little Grotty
:balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: WELCOME TO SANTA'S LITTLE GROTTY O.K. I know it's only the Calm Room with a few balloons strung about, but this isn't the place where you sit on a nice old mans knee and tell him what you want for Christmas, this is the place where you stand and shout to everybody what it is that you DON'T WANT for Christmas! It's the place to come to give your friends family, loved ones a nice big hint of what to avoid if they really do want you to have a merry time. It's also the place to come to if you want to offer examples of how a thoughtless/tastless gift ruined your Christmas, so that others can avoid making the same mistake with their choices of pressies. So come on, we all must have examples of what not to buy, I'll start the ball rolling....... One year, no thats wrong, I can't give an example being a Billy no Mates I've just realised I never get anything for Christmas, so it's up to you lot to put forward your thoughts of whats definately not hot. :balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: :balloon3: :balloon::balloon3: :balloon: |
Re: Santa's Little Grotty
I would not like to receive any kind of household electrical item/gadget. Kettles and Steam irons do not make good gifts and the giver is highly likely to be found strangled by the electrical cord.:D

Re: Santa's Little Grotty
I would not like to receive any make-up items as I am very happy thank you with the Nicole Miller range of which I have got lots.:gorgeous:
I would also not like to receive manky bubble bath (because I much prefer bath bombs and such like from Lush or Pink) but I have an ominous feeling I will.:s_bubble: I would not like to receive choccies - oh go on then I admit it, I probably would like to receive choccies.:clyde: :blinky: :inky: :nky: |
Re: Santa's Little Grotty
I spend quite a lot of time picking presents that I think are unusual and will genuinely please the recipient. I am usually depressed by the selection of gifts that I am given which generally fall into three categories; Gin, Fags and Underwear. I would love someone to give me a steam iron. It would make a really pleasant change. Sad or what?

Re: Santa's Little Grotty
A-b men are very difficult to buy presents for! O try to find something different and unusual for them but stores offer the "exciting" new range of - socks, hankies, after shave, etc.

Re: Santa's Little Grotty
How difficult is it to buy a record token or a book token, or even, God forbid, a real book!

I wonder what it would fetch on ebay??

Re: Santa's Little Grotty
Just look at the prices those old Avon aftershaves fetch these days. I mean the ones with the fancy shaped bottles.

Re: Santa's Little Grotty
I remember buying my mother 711.
Now that must have been the cheapest of the cheap in perfume. And I bet I know where that ended up. Hehehee. Anyway, it’s the thought that counts. |

Re: Santa's Little Grotty
So the answer is simple - you have to know what the individual is likely to be interested in. Which leaves me in exactly the same position as regards my male relative as he doesn't really seem to be interested in anything!

Re: Santa's Little Grotty
I agree with you there. I don't like receiving vouchers either. It always used to be that you made sure there was no price visible on a present because you didn't want the recipient to know how much you'd spent but with vouchers you might just as well give them cash or a cheque - a voucher limits where they can spend it too (even if it's a multi wadjamacallums but is just as impersonal as cash.

Thanks Sparky, and there's no cord on it to strangle you with.:(
Like what was hidden inside it though..:D |
Re: Santa's Little Grotty
Could have hit him over the head with it Lettie, instead of strangling him.
|
Re: Santa's Little Grotty
After he went to all the trouble of decorating it for Christmas too?
|
Re: Santa's Little Grotty
Hope you have an open fire to put the iron on lettie, if not put it on the gas oven . Takes forever to do the ironing though. You must get sparky to rewire your house for you, keep him out of trouble for a bit.

Re: Santa's Little Grotty
Not sure what catigory i fall in then Lettie.
I Love good Lavender the pure oil is good for all sorts. Presents like Cameras, laptop top, mobile phone top of the list. And has for a drying machine that dont eat socks is silly. Every woman knows Staggers that there is a monster in the washing machine that eats the socks. |
