Oven Gloves
If you ever buy oven Gloves from a pound shop, DO NOT wash them, whatever the insulating material is it gets all bunched up and the next time you use them, the skin of your fingers WILL stick to the inside of the thin layer of cloth that remains.
Use them, then when you can't stand the way they look buy a new set OR buy some vaseline for your burns the cost is the same but the pain is less! |
Re: Oven Gloves
Maybe washing them by hand is the way to clean them?
Remember folks, what you buy from the pound shop cost them no more than 50p, that includes shipping. So the item must actually cost about 20-30p to make. Only the end of line stuff from other manufacturers that they sometimes have can be considered worth a pound. Having said that, I used to visit every lunch times, just to look for those occasional bargains that you buy yet never use. The heat resistant mesh trays they do are great for pizza's and they can be washed. |
Re: Oven Gloves
Also...but at more than a quid are those stick on lights with a switch on them....ideal for putting next to the consumer box ( or under the sink so that you can avoid spiders...dark corners of wardrobes)for when it flips...safer than a candle....they sell for 2 quid, but are £14.99 for two in Wilko and Asda....and £2.49 at Old and Bargain.
There ARE some things that are worth buying....but there IS a lot of tat. |
Re: Oven Gloves
Had a couple of those little lights wife put one under a book shelf forgot to turn it off when I found it the plastic surround had melted.

Re: Oven Gloves
That is something I will bear in mind.
Himself has a couple for his cupboard in the garage....it is in a dark corner, so they really are useful. I just have one under the sink...and one by the consumer box. So far we have always remembered to turn them off. |

Re: Oven Gloves
I have been looking at them, great for dog walking.
Although I bet they use a little cell battery that's gonna not last long and be expensive to replace. |
Re: Oven Gloves
Not expensive, a pack of 24 button batteries for £1, guess where?

'and yes it does take a little button battery and the label says it lasts for 100 hours. You can even increase or decrease the luminance. It's such a neat little hat I couldn't resist buying one. |
