What do are kids eat??
 

Well over in another thread I was discussing how school dinners have changed and that they no longer eat the trash that people think they do (well not at my kids school anyway).

I said that I would find out what the menu is at my children primary school so here goes......


monday...........

Turkey premier, chips and garden peas
or

tuna and sweet corn pockets, jacket wedges
& fresh coleslaw

or

lentil Dahl, pitta bread &garden peas (v)

or
jacket potatoe with filling

pudding.........
Apple chelsea bun or lemon cookie and fresh fruit
or Fresh yoghurt or Fruit wedges
DRINK.........
Fruit squash, fresh milk or chilled water.

tuesday.....
Lamb moussaka, garlic bread, peas & carrots
or
Baked fish, jacket potatoe & coleslaw
or
Vegetable Raviloi, garlic bread peas & carrots (v)
OR
Jacket potatoe with fillings

pudding...........
banana loaf OR CRUNCH AND FRESH PEICES OR
Frozen yoghurt or Bunch of grapes.
drink...........
pure orange juice, fresh milk or chilled water.

wednesday.......
Sweet and sour chicken with mixed rice & fresh veg.
or
Pizza I talian, pasta slaw and veggie sticks and dips.(v)
or
Halal lamb curry, mixed rice& fresh veg
or
Jacket potatoe with fillings.
Drinks................
Fresh milk or chilled water.

Thursday.........
Roast beef and gravey, creamed potatoes& broccoli.
or
lemon sole grilled, creamed potatoes & broccoli
or
Cheese and vegetable bake, creamed potatoes & broccoli.
OR
jacket potatoe with filling.
DRINK........
fresh milk or chilled water......

FRIDAY..............
Meat blls with taglatelli, fresh herb bread & fresh veg
OR
cheese salad, fresh herb bread & potatoe salad. (V)
OR
Halal lamb meatballs with taglatelli, herb bread and fresh veg
OR
Jacket potatoe with filling.
DRINK.........
Pure apple juice or fresh milk or chilled water

I think that the choices are good. It is over all healthy and, I have no problems my chidren being on school dinners.
Thats just made me hungry BE BACK SOON>>>>>>>>>>hehehe

Its all foreign muck to me. No wonder the kids are going crazy and are impossible to teach. I saw some programme only last week were there was some young fool attempting to serve up god-knows-what in a school kitchen; whatever junk it was he was preparing, it had obviously affected his verbal reasoning, for every other word was the four letter one. Why can't the kids have proper food, like we used to have? What's wrong with cabbage every day?

I like cabbage, infact it's my fave veg and I turned out OK!!!!!lol

I remember having brilliant school meals when I was at school in Accy, lots of red meat and veg, and proper puddings. It all when a bit crappy when we move over to Blackpool, grey meat etc.

Yes willow my children go to st.peters primary school and theirs is £1.50 per day which I don't mind at all paying when they are getting good meals like this.

I know it's a little off thread but when I was pergnant with my oldest I had mad cravings for school made chicken supreme. I had to try a 'vesta ready made mea'l to ease the cravings but it didn't work and I ended up throwing up because it wasn't what I craved. I could still eat it now if anyone has the recipe for how to make it I would much appreciate it.

Another thing I loved was school coffee but I know how to make that the same now, it's just made with milk and no water.
