What's your dream job!
What would be your definition of the perfect job - and the perfect boss (if any!).
|
Re: What's your dream job!
Already doing my dream job, as a midwife in the local community. Have a real laugh with my clients and have met and worked with thousands of people. Would love to do less paperwork, as it takes me away from the mums and babies.
If I didn't work as a midwife, I would like to be a porn film extra!!! :P :P :P Just kidding of course. :D |
Re: What's your dream job!

Re: What's your dream job!
Sorry i`m a bit slow getting back to you littlemo...Yes I think that we Brits do not take apnea serious enough, they say that I am borderline so the only thing that I have is a denture thingy to keep my throat open.
To those not in the know Sleep Apnea means that I wake up about 50-60 times an hour because I stop breathing, although I am not aware of it...it means I get lack of oxygen. [smiley=redface.gif] |
Re: What's your dream job!
Alfee 50-60x/hr would make you extremely severe!
obviously there is a criteria, each event has to last for a minimum of 10secs and up to 5/hr in regular sleep 15/hr in REM is normal. 5-15 is mild, 15-30 mod and above that is severe. Cardiologist are now referring for sleep studies to rule out OSA before any meds or ops as a person with severe sleep apnea put's a strain on the heart and other major organs therefore by treating OSA, where effectivly treating the heart. |
Re: What's your dream job!

Re: What's your dream job!
littlemo - alfee
sleep problems... pah.. I have been diagnosed with everyhting from epilepsy to night terrors and they still havent sorted me out after 20+ years of trying.. Complete waste of time and probably go to my grave not knowing whats wrong. I ahve been classed as ambulant disabled for the last 15 years. I found a long long time ago that the cure was worse than the problem and stopped taking the different types of medication they tested on me a long time ago.. I have more fear of tablets than I do of sleeping now :( Same problem in america and I would have been sorted years ago... |
Re: What's your dream job!
I would be selfish and undeserving to deny that I probably already have my dream job if not in full then, certainly within 80% of it. I work from home in my own way and in my own time. I answer to one person who actually does what I say and not the other way round. I’m a Care Advisor and Policy Developer for a Domiciliary “Community Care” Care Company. I interpret and Implement National Care Standards. It’s very well paid work and comes with very little hassle. My boss as also become more of a friend than an employer. How can it be improved upon? I could be doing the business for myself….

Re: What's your dream job!
I'm also pretty close to my dream job - I teach guitar. The level of job satisfaction is high, I travel around the area from place to place so I'm not stuck in the same stuffy room, its good to see kids doing something useful and fulfilling and putting their energies into creativity instead of destruction and disrespect.....and the money is good.
|
Re: What's your dream job!
ooh guitar. I used to play but have trouble with funny little fingers which bend inwards so I couldn't make them reach the right fret/string. Do you teach classical? (yes, I know it's a slight thread wander but I beg forgiveness)

Re: What's your dream job!
I am a grafter, so I want two jobs at least - preferably three.
Evenings, I want to be a wine taster, fine wines only, please, champagne preferred. will work until late. I will then do the night shift at a good brewery that makes real ale, tasting, of course. I am also open to offers for checking restaurants (or good cafes wot do breakfast). For the day job, I want to be a quality control operative for a major bed-making firm. Yup - boose all evening, eat free, and sleep all day. Can't be beat! |

yes sometimes a job to envy |
Re: What's your dream job!
A friend of mine in Germany has a job with a holiday tours company which involves "testing" the hotels etc before they are added to the brochures. She isn't a rep. She doesn't go with the package tours. She goes for several days on her own just to sample the facilities first. Sounds like Ifty's dream job doesn't it? She has been to most of the countries in Europe and north Africa.

14 is a good age to start seriously thinking about what you'd like to do with your future.
Good luck if you want to be a teacher, concentrate on those academic qualifications before we end up losing them altogether. |

Re: What's your dream job!
Somewhat simpler than some but then that's me :D my dream job would be a carpenter. I think wood is a gorgeous material and I'd love to have honed the skills that I gained at school and done an apprenticeship instead I foolishly went on to do A levels and now work for the NHS
|
Re: What's your dream job!
never too late basher and yes wood is a lovely material, my grandad used to tell me nearly everything on the farm back in poland was made of wood. For some reason people now seem to shy away from using it, as it's environmentally unfreindly. How the hell can using one of the most natural, replaceable materials be so. You grow trees, cut them down, plant new trees. As long as new trees are planted it's got to be better than plastic.
