Be a film extra - please help!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but...

We are filming at Liquid and Envy in Blackburn on Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th and Friday 28th March between 11am and 4.30pm, maybe later on the Friday. At the moment we urgently need people from tomorrow (Tue 25th).

If you want to come up and bring some friends, please email or ring me as I need to compile a list, I can’t let people in willy-nilly I’m afraid.

On arrival, ask around and find Noelene, she will tick you off the list, she will be your point on contact throughout the day. Tea, coffee, sandwiches and snacks will be available from around 12.00pm but feel free to bring your own. If you have any dietary requirements please let me know.

It would be ideal if you can bring a change of clothes, another jacket or shirt, as we might need to plonk you in another shot, playing a different person, I also suggest bringing a book or magazine to read between set ups.

It's a shame that many people have work but it's the only time we can get the club with it not being open to the public.

Got an Email about it this morning, asking me If I wanted to take part and bring my mates along as long as we rang up first, don't know how they got onto me though. Maybe because the other have has been a TV and Film extra for about 3 years now and was actually going to take me on a shoot at Ewood Park the other week but the shoot was cancelled at the last minute for technical reasons, I was a bit miffed at the time

I got the email too, maybe they sent one to all AccyWebbers.

I don't think it's quite my thing though - never know what you might end up looking like. I remember when I agreed to do that "Why I live here" book and I ended up looking as if I'm the organist for a Catholic church!

I thought that an Equity actors union card was required even to be an extra, and I heard that it is very hard to get one.

No, extras, or 'background artistes', don't need to be a member of Equity.

The Stage / Advice

I've worked in the wardrobe department on a number of films, and as long as a certain quota of the cast are members of Equity, extras in crowd scenes are usually non-members.

My lass has had small speaking parts in TV and films just the odd word like goodby going out of a shop or hello on the street, I think Joan said she can speak about 12 words without a card Rindi but I suppose it depends where and what is happening
