Thats how it works, some students get sponsored by an employee and work for them in the holidays with the chance of a full time job when/if they graduate

Law students apply 2 years in advance for training contracts. That's the norm anyway. My tutors want me to do a masters though so I think I'll apply during next year. I've got a lot of work this Summer and I need to focus on that first.

All lecturers want every student to take up a masters degree!! it provides the university with money and most importantly keeps the lecturers in a job!!!!! they like serial students!!!!

My principle lecturer has said that I should take up a masters degree too.......along with every other student on the course!!!!!

Don't disillusion her.

She's special, in her own mind, with special needs.

They don't want me to do the masters at the university I'm at as it doesn't cover the areas I'm interested in.

I'm being paid to do research over the Summer though which has potential to lead to funding in the future for doing a Phd, so I'll see how that goes.

Re: Ossy Tesco looking for staff

It will of course indirectly benefit them as my name on research papers would reflect back to the university.

It is funny you should say that cause I am doing research over the summer.... it is called Prep for my dissertation, now..... Remember, preperation, preperation, Preperation.

It's the grades for your degree you should be concentrating on not what you are going to do in the distant future..... Master, PhD, Do you actually plan on working for a living at some point or are you going to be the lecturers friend ......the serial student!!!!!!!????

You do think very highly of yourself don't you? Have you thought of giving Gordon a call before you resign your memebership?
Like I said in a previous post with your experience and expertise you are obviously invaluable!

Re: Ossy Tesco looking for staff

Yes I'm doing my dissertation preparation right now.
I'll also be working on some Widening Participation Summer schools, then working on my research internship doing the ELSA paper for the EU's initiative on AmI.
I'll also be down in London on a Law Summer School and I have a mini-pupillage in September.

Please don't attempt to patronise me just because I appear to be an unpopular member on this forum. I work hard and I don't really care if you think I'm thinking a lot of myself. I have earnt the right to be confident about what I do and I'm not going to be ashamed of that. I hold down a lot of positions at university, one in particular which benefits ALL students as I organise big companies to visit the university to run skills workshops and networking events, a part time job which enables students which are younger than me to gain the knowledge they require for university and I get first class marks on top of it all.

Now maybe I am sometimes I bet reckless with what I say on this forum, and I'll admit that I go as far as being offensive, but I am NOT all talk and no action, so please don't think you have some right to think I'm anything less than capable of everything I say I am going to do, because it will only make you look foolish.

I think I've made enough of a point now.

Right you've BIGGED yourself up enough!!! We have a running itenary of your summer ... YAWN!!!

There will only be one person who is foolish in years to come... YOU, when you look back at the way you are now and how very, very patronising you are.....

I think I have made a more valid point in not as much words Blazey, one that will ring true!!... eventually

Confidence is one thing...ego is another.....and there is a difference.

Blazey, you tell another member not to patronise you, yet
you are patronising, supercilious, and insensitive, no-one looks foolish for pointing out these facts to you......
It appears that you think that all the good folk of Accrington, and those on here especially, have had very little in the way of valid experiences of life. We, in your opinion have not lived....because we haven't all been to Uni......you talk down to us like we are not worthy of your interest......and you expect all these traits to endear you to us.
It isn't even as if you are studying law at Oxbridge, you are at a lowly provincial university......a university that needs its students because they are the oxygen it breathes and the money it earns.
And while you may have earned the right to be confident...it doesn't give you the right to denigrate the people who live in Accrington and surrounding areas....after all it is where you come from, whether you like it or not.
