i searved my apprenticeship until i was 20. you started at 16 spent time at colledge in preston then blocks of 6 weeks on the job training going out with the sparkies. norweb had a residential training centre at chorley. you did 6 weeks on job, 6 weeks at preston colledge, 6 weeks at chorley. norweb paid your wages, all your books fees everything. it was one of the best ! i remember it well! all changed now!

Found this thread on google. I know its an old thread but I'm currently looking for an electrical apprenticeship to start in the summer.
Anybody have any ideas who might need an apprentice in accrington.

heard electricians direct Electricians Direct In Accrington & All Lancashire and thomson electricial are looking for some apprentices, if anyone else is trying to find 1 try them.

The same advice from five years previous still applies. Contact Training 2000, in Blackburn. They oversee the training of apprentices for a four year period. The first year is in-house at Harwood St., in Blackburn, near to the Tesco building. The next three years are spent training with whichever company sponsors the apprentice, returning to Training 2000 once a week, working towards either City & Guilds or BTEC certificates.

My son has gone through training 2000 and has been told that he will be invited for an interview with Emerson And Renwick, just waiting for the date now.

Hip hip hooray... :) (yeah I know he hasn't got the position but it's still good news)

Oh yes he has! I've got myself a new apprentice sparkologist, starting in August. :D

please look after him sparkologist :rolleyes: and I don't want him coming home asking why he's being called wingy2 :D
