Re: Corner of church street
Excellent Photo Janet. To think our great grand parents would have known that view well. Anyone got a comparison shot?

You mean it hasn't always been the Regency pub on the corner?! Great photo Janet.

Re: Corner of church street
I remember when the Regency was the Commercial Hotel.
That view doesn't really look very different today. If I can remember to take my camera out next time I'm in town (tomorrow or Thursday) I'll take a comparison shot. |

Re: Corner of church street
When I was at Peel Park my friend's parents ran the Commercial and I remember the two of us running about in the corridors, probably driving residents up the wall. It always seemed to be busy and had famous people staying there. I recall Tommy Steele for one.
You may wonder what they were doing visiting Accy but they were in the "Showbiz XI" and here to play Stanley. I lived in Sultan St at the time and the crowds coming down into town when "football loosed" were fantastic. All very boisterous but never any trouble as I remember. |
Re: Corner of church street
I was at that match Willow, if i remember right Freddie form freddie and the dreamers was also playing.
