Re: Melbourne St
I used to call into the Melba/Melbo? occasionally around 1960, usually on Sunday afternoons, I think, and put a bob or two into the jukebox. It didn't have the amosphere of the Wayside opposite Joe Mort's, though.

We have already established in this thread that men call it Melbo and ladies call it Melba |

I used to frequent The Wayside from about 1958 to 1960. It was owned and run by Stan and Marjorie Forber - he was like everybody's dad, she stood no nonsense from even the toughest lads. My friend and I could make one coffee each last about 2 hours while listening to the jukebox that other people were putting money in. Happy, really rather innocent days. :) |
Re: Melbourne St
Pity we never got the photo.

Sorry, but I've obviously missed this question from you, Cashy. I honestly can't remember. Can you remember when this might have been - I moved out of Accy in late 1961 and may have stopped going in there by then anyway. I seem to remember that it was quite a tiny place. |
