Re: A bit of the past for identification
Nice one Acrylic Bob (hey, I find it really hard to spelt out your name!!!!) - Funnily enough my guess is the same as Janets. Not sure where just yet, but a good puzzle!
In the past I remember on Sunday afternoons we went up Priestley Clough, and in my mind we went on King George's Playing Fields, over the railway bridge, then somewhere around there was a house that had a sort of waterfall near it. I think its near where a guy now lives, who chases folk off his land!!! Cant think of the name of the property just yet, I think you could eventually end up at Bullough Park area of town. Will think hard on this one. |
Re: A bit of the past for identification
You had to go up past nelsons lodge to get up to Bullough park maybe it's him you are thinking about Atarah.

You are in roughly the right area. |
Re: A bit of the past for identification
What about the old mill up Baxenden? You can still see the ruins in the undergrowth? Cant think of its name .......??????????

Re: A bit of the past for identification
Ok, Atarah was nearest, it is a photo of the remains of the mill race at the top end of Priestly Clough near what was Five Arches. I have a vague memory that it was, or was called the Clog Mill. Can anyone confirm or contradict this?

|
Re: A bit of the past for identification
Atarah, a mill race is a channel in which water flows to and from a mill wheel.
