Accrington?
1 Attachment(s)
Ignoring the happy chappie in the foreground can any-one recognise where the shops behind him are?
 |
Re: Accrington?
Bottom of church street.
|
Re: Accrington?
I agree with Janet. I think it is at the bottom of Church St.
|
Re: Accrington?
I wish I'd had a look there when I was out just now. That green shop does look like "Almost Christmas" but the penultimate letter doesn't look as if it could be an "A"

Re: Accrington?
Don't know why but I think it is Warner Street
|
Re: Accrington?
It's not the bottom of Church Street. Busman and I drove down there to look yesterday. We also drove all over most of Accy and couldn't find it but for some reason we didn't do Warner Street. I think it was on account of him saying he'd been down there recently and not seen anything like that. :D

Re: Accrington?
I'm glad it's proving elusive, because it's one of H*******lifes bits of scenery, & I for one could not think which part of Accrington it is.
:D |
Re: Accrington?
Is the shop that is green not boot leggers I am sure it is, might be wrong though
|
Re: Accrington?
Less are you trying to tell us that possibly Hyndburnlite has used an illustration from somewhere other than Hyndburn???
|
Re: Accrington?
Hi, I DONT think its Church Street cos the reflection in the window looks like terraced property. In fact ... is it Accrington?????
|
Re: Accrington?
Well Busman and I have been all over the place in Accy and we can't find the location. Maybe it's in Rishton.
|
Re: Accrington?
I think it was taken a few years ago in Church St. It looks like J & T Cosmetics that used to be there before it moved to the Arndale.
|
Re: Accrington?
A few years ago??? That's almost outside of living memory!!!!
|
Re: Accrington?
Is it not up Little Blackburn Road, near the Canine??
|
Re: Accrington?
Blackburn rd, between the yorkshire bank and the hsbc?????
|
Re: Accrington?
Perhaps if we could trace the fire-man he could tell us, any-one recognise him?
:flamethro |
Re: Accrington?
If we aren't even sure of when let alone where, this makes it a bit harder to pin down doesn't it? I wonder if we can track down the happy chappie and see if he can tell us when it was taken?
|
Re: Accrington?
It`s not round Accy town centre as I had a wander today. Union Road, Ossy?? By the way the firefighters name is Nick Issherwood.....it says so on his name badge!!
|
Re: Accrington?
OK, so who is going to call at the fire station and ask if anyone knows Nick Isherwood?
|
Re: Accrington?
I can tell you one thing, that happy chappie as you call him is a Station Officer in the Fire Brigade. As I know all the blokes at Accy, I've never seen him before.

Re: Accrington?
Hi Atta
Just checked & that Staton Officer is Mick Isherwood, He's The Station Commander at Nelson Fire Station & has been there for over 3 years. Give your mate some stick. Retlaw Quote:

Re: Accrington?
Ah now that may explain things. Maybe the photo was meant as a promo for Pendlelife but got mixed up with the Hyndburn one.

Re: Accrington?
You know, we should have clubbed together and made a website for them, took some decent photos and done an advertising job. It couldn't have turned out any worse and wouldn't have cost us anywhere near the £650,000 so we'd have made a nice profit to spend at the next AccyWeb do (or several).
