Sue go to the Gallery - use the link in post number one.
At the upper rt hand edge of the page there is a button that says upload photo......click on this, and it will allow you to browse your files and uplaod...you can add captions, titles, descriptions once the pic is uploaded. I hope this helps

Re: The new Photo Competition

Margaret you are a saint and I am being a pathetic twit today. I went to the gallery and never saw that button. Though I did upload stuff to the gallery just after I joined AW before it stopped functioning.

I can't see anything in post no 1 which tells you to upload to gallery so I wonder if some newbies might have a problem if they've not done it before.

Anyway having spent some time going through my photos here goes...

PS Thank you very much for the help.

Well that makes me feel a tad better Frank. I guess folks who have done these comps before have a better idea.

Anyway, all done now - and I feel like a limp rag!

I saw that and clicked on it but nowhere does it say - this is what you must do to have a go at the comp - and to upload photos go to top RHS and click on upload...

Sorry but I like things spelt out in words of one syllable and I always RTFM when I buy some new toy - which most men don't. That's why I get so annoyed with Richard, after three years he still doesn't know how to do the most basic things on his posh camera - total waste of money if you ask me.

Re: The new Photo Competition

I have to admit....I only refer to the manual when there is something I either don't know how to do...or have done so infrequently, that I have forgotten.
It is much more fun to fly by the seat of your pants......I have heard it called 'errorful learning'...you learn by your mistakes.

Anyway, the manual is so long winded!

Just fill in the boxes on the screen that appears after you click upload photos, that's the easy bit, finding that screen was what I found difficult (see my earlier posts :(). Then click the button to upload the photo from your computer. Unlike posting in threads it appears you don't have to worry about file size when posting your pic which makes a nice change.
Good luck!

It may be an idea to ask for photos outside of the photo section as not everyone contributes or knows about this section.
I cant do this myself as it would look like I was touting for votes.

I also noticed that the number voting was small although the number of times a photo has been viewed can be high, as a new contributer I don't know if this is the "norm".

Margaret Pilkington 08-01-2013 10:49

Re: The new Photo Competition

I think that maybe some people wait until the date for uploads passes before making a vote.......thinking someone might upload something they like better...you can change your vote at any time...but maybe they don't realise this.

Ahhh, gold and silver, what a wonderful subject to return to.

I haven't entered yet, I've got neither about my person.

Inspiration is harder to come by than either gold or silver! You could always buy a packet of Wrigley's spearmint gum in the meantime and take a snap of one of the little silver-coloured strips -then eat the stuff -something to chew on as you free your mind and look for that "je ne sais qua" which is obviously missing to your artistic soul -as an alternative I can recommend a toffee penny, which is wrapped in gold -my favourite out of a tin of Quality Street!:D

Mine too - unfortunately I have a tin of Roses here, not Quality Street - but I can get them when I go to the hosp - they have so many sweeties given to them they just leave them out on the reception desk for folks to help themselves!

:D

You are mixing up nagging with friendly badgering (not the digging in the wood type), you don't have to have gold or silver, people can give them to you. Gold can be the golden smile of a friend or the silver hair of a relative, or even the contents of a bag of chips, a golden piece of potato, right thats all the inspiration for one day.

So next I want to see an old friend, smiling, with a chip in her hair.

Gowd sterrrruth! don't go daft I'm taking a picture not writing a novel.

I can offer a piccy of an old friend with an axe in her head, it's in black and white, (which makes it sort of silvery), I had to develop it myself couldn't trust sending it to a chemists at the time, had digital been introduced a few years earlier I could have made it a career, but as it was I went for the electric shock treatment, so I'm all right N..OW!
