Re: New Photo Competition 20
I HATE SHOPPING, window or otherwise!
I'd rather do paint balling, but I can never decide if I should paint them the same colour or perhaps, in contrasting colours! :0 |

Come on you lot uploads to this competition will close tomorrow get yours in soon

Re: New Photo Competition 20
Yes, it is a bit disappointing that there's not more entries this time. Definitely quality there though even if not quantity. I apologise for only having one entry myself in competition 20 but it's the only photo I could find taken inside a church - not sure what that says about me, oops! Also not sure what it says about the lack of entries by other Webbers of photos on this subject....oops, again!!! Maybe enough said!!!!!!
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Will still find it hard to decide which to vote for - some super shots.
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
We could definitely do with some more entries.
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Mick, you picked the one subject that I don't have any photos of, or am likely to have, so regrettably I am unable to enter this competition, which is a pity as I enjoy entering.

Re: New Photo Competition 20
thank you Russell...every little helps.
Never mind Dave......your cathedral is the open air, the blue skies and the damp grass....your stained glass is dewdrops on plants and flowers. |
Re: New Photo Competition 20
There are some lovely shots...it going to be hard to make a choice.

Loaded it again and can now see two copies of the same pic on site, I hope it doesn't split any votes coming my way in half! |
Re: New Photo Competition 20
I like the inside of churches......it makes me wonder how the craftsmen managed to work the stone in the way they did...and it also makes me wonder if they knew how beautiful(architecturally) the building would ultimately be.
You do not need to subscribe to organised religion to appreciate the splendour and beauty of churches. |
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Just tried three different churches - all locked up. I'm still trying!
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
ive only pictures of the outside of the churches ... don't take them inside ...:o
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Gave up trying to get into a 'live' church. Who knew they were only open on Sunday? Goes to show you how out of touch I am. I do appreciate some aspects of their beauty, so I searched through some photos taken long, long ago. Somehow it felt more true for me...
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Have had the same experience re locked churches, Turtle. Pity it has to be so to safeguard places that used to be considered safe havens to go to, and always open.
Sadly, vandals have no scruples, just don't care what they wreck or who they steal from. No place is sacred to them, not even churches. |
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Yes, Margaret, the workmanship is beautiful in churches and must have been painstakingly carried out, with much patience, especially when you think of the only tools they had to do this work. The mind boggles as to how they did it. That's when a craftsman WAS a craftsman, a true artist.

|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Great Shot Margaret . A worthy winner
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Congratulations Margaret - a great shot, well deserving a win!
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
ooh, you are making me blush. Thank you for your votes.
I love that place......not from a religious point of view, but for the peace, serenity and calm that is there......and even when the cathedral has lots of visitors, it still makes me feel like that. It is an awesome place. If I lived closer I would visit it every week...just not on a Sunday. I hope there will be lots of entries to the new comp.......because there are lots of opportunites to take pictures that would be acceptable for this theme. Lots of shops have displays that reflect the theme...so get out there and get snapping! |

to get down on your knees to take it??! I loved Richard Burton as Thomas a Becket -I wonder if it was filmed there or in a studio... They don't do Halloween much in Italy - but I do! Will have to dig out some old photos of my boys and scan them in -either that or a self-portrait :D |
Re: New Photo Competition 20
No Dianne......I shot it from a distance using Zoom.
I'm sure you will find something...like I said..gravestones, black cats, spiders...all of these have link to halloween, and sometimes you can be a bit creative with the theme. |
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Well done Ma, even a heathen like me can appreciate the architecture & décor of a Church. :)
|
Re: New Photo Competition 20
Thanks Son...it really is a beautiful place...and I am glad that my picture has portrayed some of the beauty that is there.
|
