Very true, Russell. One problem I have with my old photos is that most of them were taken not by me or family members but they are studio photos so they don't count.

I could post some of my myriad holiday snaps from recent years but they don't really illustrate the category. I managed to find five photos in the end, hope you like them.

My take on this is.....memories can be old, or they can be recent.
There is nothing in the category that asks us to choose a memory from a particular era of our lives...like schooldays....that would really scupper me, as I have no pictures from that time.
I think it is interesting to see what brings back memories for those who have entered the competition.....memories are very personal things....different and unique to the individual.

Right I have entered 4 photos there is a 5th photo the wife said to put on but I wont:) its of me age 2 in the bath so no chance but she has threatened to put it in herself:D
I can remember these photos and the events they are of and bring back fond memories of my childhood.

I have loads more as my grand father was a founder member of Preston camera club
that's when cameras used glass negatives
so he always had a camera and encouraged my father to take loads of family photos too
they used to do there own developing and printing too

Mick your pics have rustled memories of mine. My dad was an avid photographer...he did his own developing and printed out his own pics...he would make fancy edges on the snaps with a deckle edged cutter. sometimes he would let me do this job, but more often I was given the job of twirling the knob on the top of the developing tank.
We used to get o ur photographic supplies from Waltons on Abbey street.

This theme has just made one hell of a lot more work for me:D

no not the thread itself

but I went looking for old family photos to use in the competition
and found a huge box of photos I forgot about after my mother died
all my other family photos have been scanned and put on DVD also backed up to a hard drive.
but now I have thousands of them to scan thanks Turtle :D

Thank you everyone for getting into the spirit of this Comp. The photos are great. Although I too was hoping to see the one of Mick in the bath!
