er no its not
you have waste pipes down pipes water pipes gas pipes in the house
you have tubes of glue, makeup comes in tubes I think :)
your car has Pipes exhaust pipes water pipes etc

the hard part is taking a photo that looks good:D

Margaret Pilkington 04-11-2013 10:30

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Yes, I know about pipes and tubes....there are pasta tubes, lipstick tubes......and you are right.....it is quite difficult to make a downspout or a drainpipe look appealing.
But, as always I will do my best :D

Turtle 04-11-2013 11:14

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Good one Mick! A challenge for sure. Hmmmmm... Tobacco pipes, wind pipes (no!), tunnels? They're tubes I guess. Just thinking out loud - not always a good thing especially in early morning LOL

Looks like they didn't upload, is the size to big, I find I have to reduce my pictures down to get them to upload.

Frank I have clicked on the link and find I have uploaded a picture very similar to yours, as you were the first I will ask Mick to remove it. Mick if you are reading this please delete my "pile of pipes" I will upload another picture.

You are right Mick, I should have PM'd, in mitigation it was getting late and I discovered after doing all the uploading I had uploaded an identical image. Had it still been there today I would have PM' as per the correct way of doing, but my Horlicks was getting cold.

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Turning out to be an excellent choice of subject - already lots of great photos entered. Very interesting to see the different interpretations. Going to be very hard to choose which one to vote for.

Turtle 07-11-2013 11:06

Re: New Photo Competition 23

I agree, Dotti. I thought it was going to be a hard theme at first, but the ideas keep coming in! For my entries I was intrigued by some strange looking glass pipes at the local tattoo parlour. I tried to screw up my courage to go in there with my camera, armed with all sorts of excuses. But I chickened out. Maybe it's for the best :)

maxthecollie 09-11-2013 13:53

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Why don't you get a tattoo done?

Margaret Pilkington 09-11-2013 14:44

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Oh NO!
I have gone to some lengths to get a good snap.......I almost broke my neck on some slippery rocks at the swallow falls(as long as I didn't break the camera..it was alright) but I would draw the line at getting a tattoo just so that I could get a pic of some tubes.

I don't care how tasteful the tattoos are...they are not my thing at all...on men or on women.

Turtle 09-11-2013 15:17

Re: New Photo Competition 23

I thought about getting a tattoo once years ago, but chickened out then too. I don't like pain! And now I'm glad I didn't bother. I see all these young people covered in them in very visible places, and imagine how they're going to feel later in life. A bit foolish, I'm guessing.

Margaret Pilkington 09-11-2013 15:23

Re: New Photo Competition 23

No, maybe not.....it seems that there are more folk tattoo'd than not. I reckon it will be something to see someone without a tattoo in the future.

Mick 15-11-2013 06:38

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Just got my vote in. It was really hard to choose - so many great shots!

mobertol 17-11-2013 15:20

Re: New Photo Competition 23

I have voted -not many votes in so far -a wide variety of variations on the theme -was a hard choice!
Unfortunately I had used up my 5 slots or I would have put in a photo of my newly re-plumbed heating system which failed on day 2 of the house-move. Had a bit of a nightmarish week as I had to move a load of stuff and stop un-boxing things while a team of plumbers fitted antique looking external copper pipes to the radiators throughout the house, as a leak in the old pipes somewhere was blocking the boiler! Should all be hitched up tomorrow with luck as we're expecting a cold spell. After that the builder will fill up the holes they've drilled -paintwork will be touched up and I will allow myself a small nervous breakdown once I've finished cleaning everything (yet again!) and finally unpack.

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Well done Turtle, I thought you were going to give us a bit of a chance, but never mind the best photo won, there is always the next competition, possibly.

well done turtle ...

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Thank you all - I'm more than a little gobsmacked to win again, but it was Mick's theme that won in my book. It brought out a truly great set of photos from everyone! The theme of pipes gave us all a lot to work with. I quickly had to come up with an idea for the next Comp., and Margaret's reflection of herself in the window inspired it. Good luck to all!

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Congratulations!!! A worthy winner amongst so many good photos, and a great theme for Comp. 24. Will be interesting to see what members come up with. Now to put the thinking cap on the old noggin' for this.

Am reflecting on what to post in the next competition ;) 5 amazing shots already in from Margaret - it's going to be a tough competition!

Margaret Pilkington 18-11-2013 17:01

Re: New Photo Competition 23

Dianne, they might look amazing, but watch what is posted in the next few days and mine will pale into insignificance.
I like reflections, so it is something I look for in a shot.....though I don't always spot it :)

Thank youTurtle. The photo's were taken in the old underground reservoir at Clayton Le Woods Lancs. It was open to the public for a short time. It was largely built in 1884.
