Re: New Photo Competition 31
I like the 'Lady Yvonne' picture. It has elegance, poise and a delicacy about it.

Thank you both for the kind words. This is Lady Yvonne taken recently.
She is still as sweet as ever and she rings me about once a month from Swanland where she lives. Originally a Hebden Bridge lass. |
Re: New Photo Competition 31
A beautiful girl turned into a beautiful lady......please tell her I love her picture.
|
Re: New Photo Competition 31
Russell, your new additions to the comp are charming.
I like them a lot. |
Re: New Photo Competition 31
I will do that Margaret.
Yvonne is a real down to earth lass and gets stuck into village life, even donning waders when it's time to clean out the village duck pond. I was with her last weekend at her mother's (my aunty) 98th birthday. |
Re: New Photo Competition 31
Mick, that is a lovely shot of you with your Mum and Laddy.
|
Re: New Photo Competition 31
I agree, Margaret. What a lovely turn this Comp. is taking! Not all of us have youngsters readily available for recent snaps, but the entries are showing ingenuity and fond memories. I hope more members post theirs soon :)
|
Re: New Photo Competition 31
I do too. I like looking at these older black and white pics.
I know they aren't as polished and perhaps not as clear as the digital pics, but they take me back to an age when things seemed a bit more sedate - not naive, but gentle. OK. I'll take of the rose tinted ones now and put my old ones back on :) |
Re: New Photo Competition 31
Have been looking at the entries and am in a real quandary - how the heck can I choose just one out of all those beautiful pictures. I like them all - maybe I'll use the system that I have when making a selection in the Melbourne Cup - just close my eyes and point!!!!!

Re: New Photo Competition 31
Dotti - sometimes that is the ONLY way to do it!

Re: New Photo Competition 31
Managed a couple (think i`m pushing it with one of them), difficult one for me this time, only old pics and no scanner, had to take a pic of the print.
|
Re: New Photo Competition 31
Well, at least you have submitted something.
And I really do 'get' the fact that this time the remit might be just a bit challenging, but it makes you just a bit more innovative...or it should do. |

Re: New Photo Competition 31
Up to press there are only 14 votes cast for the pics in this comp.
Just how sad is that? It isn't even like you have to stir your stumps to go to a voting station. It akes no effort and very little time. Come on you folk out there. Get voting! |

Great Shot G . A worthy winner :)
|
Re: New Photo Competition 31
Thank you all for the kind words, I didn't really deserve to win because I didn't take the photograph. It was taken by Alice Longstaff who I believe died over 40 years ago.
Alice was a professional photographer with a studio in Hebden Bridge and there is a very good web site dedicated to her and her photographs of old times. Me and a few of my cousins had our photos taken there when we were young. The link below will take you to a website with a lot of her photographs on. Zenfolio | David Martin Photography | Alice Longstaff Gallery Collection Anyway, thanks again for voting for me, I will see what I can dig out for the current competition. |
