Here is a wonderful old view looking down from the top of Oak Street. This site is where North Lancs Training now have their new offices. Bet you never knew all this property had been there, eh?

Yep, its Oak Street Congregational. Was next to The Abbey pub on Bank Street and facing where the Job Centre now is, on Oak Street

My unkle had some old film, he got it put on to video and one part of it was a steaplejack working on this churh. And some of the film was from the brickyard.

Love the photos Atarah. We seem to have lost some far more interesting buildings than we now have. Those shops were quite something.

Has anyone got any old photos of bottom end of Oak street.Ilived at no 31 from 1969 to 1977 it is now mr minsters. I remember going to the old woodhut papershop for my dad at the corner of Oak st remember the houses on cross st and oak street across from job centre.Pulled most of these down while we were still living there. Also there were houses on black abbey street then and i remember we used to get our coal from Briggs now abuilding firm.
