electric cooker blown

can anyone tell me if ive just blown my cooker, its a 1yr 1month old indesit elec ceramic top cooker, today i was cooking a stew and i left the room and when i went back in the stew had overflown about a cup full and had spead over the top and onto the floor,i then noticed that their was no power in my cooker,i looked in the fuse box and the fuse switch for the cooker was switched off so i put it back on and then i turned the cooker switch back on and there was a bang from the front of the cooker,so i went back into the fuse box and pulled out the fuse but thats fine so i tried again and yet another bang, can i get it fixed or have i got to get a new one,im sure that they have a timer on them to last just over their warranty:confused:

I am guessing that the liquid has got onto the back of the controls and is causing a short circuit. I might be wrong as it is hard to test over the net :). If it is that then it might be possible to clean it.

When in doubt - get a man in! Just as long as it's not a man from BG who is determined to tell you your cooker is now obsolete ;)

Hopefully Neil is right and it can be solved by cleaning.

Not just off, but with the fuse removed to isolate it and preferably by someone that knows what they are doing!

I could, but in case you haven't noticed I didn't, because my diddly squat isn't out of choice, not everybodys illness is visible from the outside.
