Iceland - dont bother!
Not a very happy hungry bunny this evening, went in the store & paid for my shopping yesterday which they could delivery till today 4-6pm cos i was not in completely for any other time, i rung just before 6 & no-one answered the phone - GUESS WHAT..............
I'VE STILL NO SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     Last week they forgot a my dairy, bust my gravy all over place & had to ring up promised they'd deliver by end of day - which they didnt again another phone call, & promptly delivery & a bribe of a cheap bottle of plonk now this week!! Im seriously after 8 years of their custom & usually never a problem till this year, as earlier i had important ID documents nicked off my trolley whilst instore!!! now all this - they can kiss my custom goodbye ...wine wont work this time bucko!!! So have had a generous offer from someone of having emergency essentials being picked up as i've nowt much in at all for tea & i will be giving them a peace of my mind tommorow better still a full refund & i'll f-off to asda who will be my new shopping establishment :( |
Re: Iceland - dont bother!

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
ah i have the same problem mel the accy store said they where going to deliver to mine between 4 and 6,hopefully they have just left yours and are on there way to mine ....gits
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
At least they turned up before you ended up going to Asda! Hope you enjoy you're tea - you've waited long enough for it!
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
hmmm they finally turned up at 7.30....never again :(
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Asda stuff arrived just not long after iceland - but only essentials that i will use so not wasted, i enjoyed my tea come supper at last was bloody starving that bad i had dry bread to start with lol
Gee shaz i thought i had it bad but least i aint the only one that has the same opinion - bloody pains & certainly losing customers, gee i would be really peed off if it was next week with the minimum of £50 before delivery. Ah well one supermarkets loss another ones gain:( |
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Usually they warn u of extended delivery times seems not this year they used to, like an 6-9pm slot last pre xmas so least u had more warning.
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
ive emailed them anyway, i aint happy
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Blimey u dont mess about do u lol i havent got their email addy besides my mail might be a tad long of the list of complaints but im certainly getting them where it counts & terminating 8 years of custom as from yesterday, so accy has lost their regular no 1 customer, shame as the staff are really nice gee know most of them personally now LOL.

What type of debit card? they take visa debit as that's what we use.
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Ask at the bank if you can change the visa electron to a visa debit (connect) depends which bank it's from. Ian says electron cards are a pain the backside for the banks

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
You could try teh other way and ask Tesco et al why they don't accept them, after all, they will only deliver your goods when they have been paid for. Its not like anyone could bounce a payment by them.

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Suppose you'd had to go out at 7pm and had been promised your delivery before 6pm? It's just not acceptable expecting you to be there an hour and a half later to accept frozen stuff. If you hadn't been in what would they have done with it?
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
sod that for a game,glad we dont.
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
mel if you have regular money going into your account you can upgrade to a better card, i did it earlier this year, ive now got a visa which i can use in all the shops:D its really simple, just go into the bank, tell them you want it upgrading and they send you a new card out :D

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Cashman, Internet shopping is normally spot on, its probably all the people going mad buying stuff they would never normally buy plus about 3x the amount of their normal stuff so the poor delivery bloke takes longer to unload than normal hence being late. for the other 50 weeks of the years its brilliant. It takes less than half the time to do the order, you tend not to make those 'impulse' purchases that you didn't really want hence saving probably far more than the delivery cost(irrespective of the petrol and time you save) and its delivered(normally :) ) when you want it delivered. The only things I won't buy are veg and fresh meat/fish as I like to pick my own(Plus I tend to get those from local markets anyway). For those without a car to get about I reckon internet shopping is a superb idea. also remember you don't have to go out in the cold/wet/icy weather either! :D

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
The good idea of Iceland is that those whom like me have to get the bus home or dont drive, can go in & do their shopping hand picked themselves & then get it delivered later on at convienience to you [usually] no other supermarket i know does instore delivery like that without need of the net.
|
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
I guess the only option to those who don't drive is taxis or to struggle on the buses. Not ideal I know. but then it costs a fair amount of money to run a car(Tax, insurance, purchase/depreciation, servicing etc), I guess its you pays your money and takes your choice. For low users, taxis will probably work out a lot cheaper. (based on £10/week for a return trip to a supermarket) its only £500/year. start adding up running a car and its a heck of a lot dearer than that to run even a cheap runabout. (insurance min £200/year, tax another hundred, depreciation minimum £300/year for a nice car start thinking £1K+, servicing/tyres/exhausts/etc, petrol, MOTS)

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Once a week is perfectly workable for a trip to a supermarket. Thats all I do and if I need anything in an emergency I either go to the local Spar or papershop. You just need to be organised and buy stuff in large enough amounts to last. I even used to do a big monthly shop and top up with small visits to shops inbetween.
Oh, I did forget that if you also happen to have a friend that you can share the taxi with it makes it even cheaper. You just have to be a bit more organised |

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
I once had a run in with Iceland. I had ordered the food and even though it arrived on time....I had popped round to my mums to get something and told the driver to just leave them in the hallway. As I watched him from my mums window he dropped about 3 bags ( trying to carry too many).
When I went round home to un-pack the bags all the bread had been squashed!! a bottle of orange juice was burst and leaking and my kiwi fruits were no-more. so what do I do?? GET GINGER ON THE JOB!!!! :D:D let him loose and watch him go ;) He got on the phone told them loads of things that were perfect!! were all crunched, squashed ect.... Next thing knock at the door!! Manager with all shopping as it should be and a bottle of wine.:D |

Yes they are a bit nortious for that, i had same problem last week with the burst gravy cos it was packed wrong, stupid to put a cardboard tub with a 3ltr cola, & the forgot a bag with my desperately needed milk in, so yeh i complained & got yes the cheapo bottle of plonk as compliments, in fact had a few bottle this year for nich due to errors & complaints which they were so desperate to keep my weekly custom, but this time its gone one too many too far:( |

She might get Kerry Katonna round to clean up for her, now they've sacked her as the face of their tv ads, because she'd rather go out on the p*ss and snorting coke than looking after her kids.

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Well hope they change the ad to free delivery at selected stores because Accy Iceland have stopped all deliveries indefinately atm, as i found out the hard way [again], luckily with knowing the staff well & a regular they least informed me before i did a big shop albeit a little annoyed i couldnt do my full weeks shop but get as much as i could carry home :( which meant costing more for less!!!! Plus cant really get a taxi with the shop as taxi cant pick up unless on Union street, so now another re-think on my weekly shop. They say its due to staffing problems & the manager has fluffed up being the causation, but they dont realise the business they could lose from the folk that dont have cars & their free delivery service eeked a way for us to do a big shop & not have to worry about getting it home - especially where the shop is situed.
Maybe Tesco & Asda want to get their online payments sorted out by accepting range of debit cards so that some of us could actually use the facitlity:( |
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Mel have you ever emailed asda/tesco to ask about electron or whatever card you have?

Re: Iceland - dont bother!
I know its another 'tax the poorer members of society' type thing but ther is also this
https://www.3vcash.com/help-charges.html basically you prepay and get a 'visa' number which you can use. the prepayment lasts for between 8 and 12 weeks and there is a small charge £3.50 per card which can be a value from £20 to £200(basically between 1.75% and a whopping 17.5% depending on how much you can afford to prepay). There is a admin charge if you don't spend it all within the period. These aren't ideal but are one possible solution. PS I genuinely don't mean anything derogatory with the first line, I know that peoples circumstances dictate things often well beyond their own control |
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
Sheesh ... and I thought someone had a bad travel experience in Rekjavik! Sounds like having the food delivered beats the hell out of putting on the old snowshoes and shooting and clubbing defenseless animals, and hanging them on trees, hoping that the not-so-defenceless animals don't get at them before you do.
Actually it's not all that bad. Deer have now been trained to commit suicide in one's freezer. |
Re: Iceland - dont bother!
I was in Iceland on Tuesday and theres adverts all over advertising the free delivery service.
