The face value is one crown or 5 shillings, which in modern money is 25p. If it has been touched at all that's what it's worth. If is is still sealed as from the Royal Mint and all shiney and lovely then it may be worth as much as £1.50!

Actually I've seen them in shops in Accy for more than face value even for a tatty one.

January 1965 was the date Churchill died. I know because it was the month I was born.

Must be a commemorative coin to mark his passing.

Yes it was to commemorate him when he died. He was the first non-Royal to have such an honour.

Even Roman coins, in good condition, are sometimes only worth a small amount.

i ahve a coin at my mummys house dated 1817 i think it is and my mum was offered £2 for it at the coin shop when she took it in

either old coins dont bring much or he was trying to rip her off , infact i think my mum may have pulled a fast one thinking about it because i asked about its whereabouts a few years ago and she said she probably threw it because it was worthless

beginig to wonder where the new video etc came from now lol

if anyone thinks a mother couldnt be so cruel just bear in mind that she spawned me :D
