Use plastic pegs to seal bread, tea cakes, frozen food etc.
Flat coke very good for fetching a sparkle to your Loo and sink. Got a spot then in an emergency dab on a spot of toothpaste and let it dry. Works a treat. |
Re: Household
Salt on spilt red wine brings the mark out of any carpet.
|
Re: Household
Also salt poured on to slugs kills the little buggers.
|
Re: Household
ground coffee & garlic keeps the slugs away, to.....they won't cross the line.
|
Re: Household
Hope it's used coffee grains tealeaf, otherwise what a waste of good coffee.
|
Re: Household
Use cheap lemonade in a vase instead of water flowers last longer.
Warm water with sugar works well but remember to cut the stems a little each day and top up. |
Re: Household
Use plastic flowers - they last longer still
|

Re: Household
:o Believe it or not, babywipes are excellent for cleaning patent leather shoes and handbags. Discovered this by accident. They are terrible for cleaning babies bottoms.
|
Re: Household
Baby wipes have many uses Lettie. Brilliant for cleaning trainers.
Good for cleaning paint work. Infact they have a multitude of uses round the home. Wipeing the phone etc. |
Re: Household

|
Re: Household
Have you tried a solution of warm water and vinigar applied with scrunched up newspaper or a soft cloth and then dry with newspaper.
Leaves them smear free in theory at least. I to am useless at cleaning windows. |
Re: Household
Old vynle records make brilliant plant pot holders.

Re: Household
For nice clean windows, I've heard that a drop of cider vinegar in the water does the trick - never tried it, but many people have told me in works. :)
|
Re: Household
Ordinary vinegar will do. I've used it for years on the inside of my car windscreen - gets tobaccco stains off a treat

But don't use them on real leather cos it takes off the protective layer of the leather taking the colour as well !! |
Re: Household
Always remember with anything being tried for the first time to test on a place thats not noticable.

Re: Household
Please help.
lasst week my cat got very ill, and on the emergency trip to the vets the little fella peed in the car, not his fault but i cant get rid of the smell its not nice. Any ideas? |
Re: Household
had a look but my stain book only says .... sponge with warm water then use a carpet shampoo then when dry sponge with ammonia solution (1.5ml ammonia to 500ml cold water)
Don't know if it works :-/ |
Re: Household
If your cat or dog has been sick on your carpet, a quick squirt from a soda syphon will help get rid of the smell, once you have cleaned it up. dont know if it works on urine though.
|
Re: Household
Had a neighbouring tom cat that used to sometimes sneak into my kitchen when the back door was open and he would sometimes leave a little scent on my floor. I used to cut an onion in half and rub it over the carpet/lino. It would reduce the smell a bit and didn't smell particularly oniony. (used to sprinkle salt on the carpet first, leave for a few minutes, sponge off with warm water then rub with raw onion)

Re: Household
Do your bit for the enviroment by recycling your christmas cards birthday cards etc.
Turn them into gift tags. It saves a fortune they are personal and unusual. |

Re: Household
I also have the same problem or did and i used vinegar on the stuff.Brought it off but the cat was always licking the place where i did it
|
Re: Household
When cleaning windows clean the inside with vertical strokes and the outside with horizontal strokes..... that way you will know whether the streaky bit is on the inside or the outside......and I use methylated spirits
|
Re: Household
Of you've got a particularly greasy window (kids hands are good at this) it may take a couple of goes before you get it clean properly. Grease streaks, even if you think you've got it all off. I hate cleaning mirrors and windows.

Would it work just as well with a kitten & some windowlene? (I did try a fully grown cat once but found it too large to get right into the corners). :rofl38: |

Re: Household
Turn the paws upside down then!
For the tiny bits in the far corners, use their ears! |
Re: Household
You're missing the point totally - if using a cat you must get the cat's co-operation.
|
Re: Household
Starve it for a few days if it refuses to cooperate ;)

Re: Household
But if you use a dead one you've got to spend time keeping the fur in a decent condition.
Keep it alive and it does it itself! |

Re: Household
But think of all the flies your spider could enjoy!
All this talk of dead cats is upsetting my Fougère! |
Re: Household
From the looks of things, Spike is dreaming of flies...!
|
Re: Household
All this talk of dead cats is making me feel quite poorly.......I am a friend to cats.....I have 3 all rescued.......even though I know you are all only joking....you are.....aren't you????????
|
