Anyone know a good "Sparky"

Ever tried to change a 2-way switch to dimmer switches and light fitment?
Did you manage to do it in one go?
I've been trying now since 13:00 managed to trip the circuit breakers 3 times LOL

Can not work out what to do with "permanent live" as the fitment instructions states that this wire to be taken out of the loop.

Done that but no power to lights switches!!!:mad:

Moved wires round in a sequence, that is when I got the trip outs lol, but now can't find the set-up in wires that I had to get light to work!!!!

Managed to get 1 dimmer to work but not both!!!!!

Anyone able to help me PLEASE :o:D

Hello ber999T, Tim, who works for a fireplace company near you, is a qualified electrician, he may advise or repair it for you. 07940994822. Tell him Derek gave you his number.

Are you trying to fit 2 dimmer switches in a 2-way circuit or one dimmer and normal switch as 2-way?

2 dimmers on at top of stairs the other at bottom. this is a 2-way setup with normal switches

Re: Anyone know a good "Sparky"

I don't think you can do that anyway. You use one dimmer switch and one normal 2 way switch.

I take it you originally had two 2way switches. You leave one switch as it was and replace the other with the 2 way dimmer. You wire up the new one as the old one was with the wires going in L1 L2 and common just the same.

Dimmers on stairs is not a good idea. If someone sets the bottom dimmer so low that the light is off you will fall down stairs in the dark trying to get to the switch to turn the light back up again.

If you had two dimmers they would both be trying to dim the light they would not be able to function correctly as you expect.

That has not worked either so I must have by-passed or crossed something, somewhere, somehow and will now vow never ever to touch lights again LOL :( :) :)
