Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

This is a strange one, but putting on my top today I must have twisted funny but felt a twang / crack somewhere at the bottom of my neck / between my shoulder blades and am in agony every time i move. Anyone any suggestions on how to ease the pain??

No good then. I was going to suggest closing your eyes and then running full pelt at it. Your shins would be hurting that much you would have forgotten the pain in your shoulder/neck :)

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

No, nothing like that unfortunately. Im in agony with it, have been all day, pain killers not touching it. Probably got aggrivated more with having to pick my boys up form time to time but just dont know what to do

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

Sounds like you have just pulled a muscle Emzy .. nowt you can do but try pain killers every four hours. Just needs time to heal .. but will. Not a medic and slightly dangerous to ask us, but have done this many times drying me hair. Just try and relax to it, don't stiffen up too much as will affect other parts.

Relaxing for me is easier said than done with me and my 17 month old twins

I know bless, but try not to tense up so much whilst lifting them .. will only aggrivate the muscle and the other shoulder.

Hey, would love to see a photo of these twins at some time. Don't think we got a member on here (well, that we know off) with twins.

Tried my best not to lift them today (although thats impossible) but even simple things like pushing the pram was painful enough. Am hoping that it might ease over night

(Its an old pic, not easy getting one of them together at their age on my own but will try and find one)

Oh my goodness Emzy .. they so handsome. Thanks for that, love babies.

Been in a position myself where you just have to carry on regardless, and you will .. that's what makes us women so strong. :D

This just a little hiccup .. but will be Ok in about a week, so no worries. x

Pain killers on a regular basis(ibuprofen if you can take it) and some warmth to the affected area......have you a wheatie bag, or a hot water bottle you could apply to the affected area?

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

You can buy Voltarol gel at the chemists, but it isn't cheap.

I am doing, just nothing in the house to help

I think i need a masage lol

Margaret Pilkington 31-01-2008 20:15

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

I think that is probably very wise, but if you can buy a wheatie bag cheaply,(or better still borrow one) then they are a boon for aches and pains.......as long as you don't get too carried away and roast it for too long in the microwave.
I suffer from a frozen shoulder and use mine in a pair of tights to anchor it to the place that is sore.

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

Try heat as already suggested - and you can also alternate with an ice pack. If it's muscular try putting a tennis ball or similar on the floor under your shoulder and roll around for a while - not as much fun as a massage but effective!

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

Ouch!!!! Hope it feels better soon Emzy. I was in agony for about a week but it is a lot less painful now. Urgent Care centre gave me Diazepam to stop the spasm and Voltarol for the pain. The Diazepam knocked me out and the Voltarol made me nauseas but it did ease the pain a bit. Also heat helped.

The muscles in my neck and shoulders drive me mad.

I was given a hop filled cushion from Ossy Mills, that you heat in the microwave. It has been so good that I went to buy another, so I can alternate them. I think it was £2.99, but well worth it.

Hope it helps.:)

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

Got heat wrap from town yesterday, only cost £1.99 and that has helped. But saying that so did the alcohol consumed last night lol

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

have ya tried deep heat...helps stimulate circulation, relax stiffness and reoxygenate tense, painful tissues, to give fast relief from muscular aches and pains

or theres deep freeze...relieves muscle pain and stiffness in cramp, sprains, strains, bruises, lower back pain (lumbago), rheumatic pain, sciatica and fibrositis. The ability to apply Deep Freeze spray quickly and directly combined with its dual action formula allows pain to be frozen instantly.
good for:-
Rheumatic pain
Sciatica
Lumbago
Fibrositis
Strains & sprains
Cramp
Bruises

take ya pick;)

Re: Help!! Neck / Shoulder Problem

If you cant reach to apply creams etc, then get a bath sponge and apply to that. I have even secured cotton wool or a piece of cloth to a coat hanger and applied it that way.
