Re: how to get rid of toothache

Its usually a cavity that causes the pain, crush an aspirin on it will help until you can get to a dentist

Re: how to get rid of toothache

oil of cloves does the trick too, but not many folk have that in the house.
Try plugging the cavity in the tooth with tobacco......that may help......or try over the counter pain relief like paracetamol(no more than 8 tablets in 24 hours though)

rinse your mouth out with whisky or rum that will help

Re: how to get rid of toothache

Aspirin works for me and always has done better than any other pain killer available over the counter. But I never take it on an empty stomach or if I have to then I take Aspirin with a good mouthful of milk first, during and after.

As a kid I suffered from virtually chronic tonsillitis and my doctor back in the forties always told my mum to crush the Aspirin in milk.

I have never suffered from stomach ulcers any sort of stomach complaint.

ibuprofen is recommended by most dentists for dental pain relief.

You might try some baby calgel on it. It is a teething gel but contains a local anaesthetic. If it is an abscess or gum thing it might help very well. I have used it for ulcers and it is good stuff.

You can use paracetamol and ibuprofen at the same time or better still 2 hours apart.

I have used calgel and found it very good, bonjela too. I used bonjela recently when I had a tooth coming through at the back of my mouth......I know, aged 30 and still teething. It's horrible. I know why babies cry so much when they've got one cutting through. :(

Are you teething, Aleks? Or is it a different toothache?

They are what I have just had coming through. They come through right at the very back of your mouth at both sides. Very painful.

Re: how to get rid of toothache

Wisdom teeth don't appear for everybody. A dentist showed me an xray which showed them in my jaw but they never broke through - doubt if they will now (at 65) - could do with them now - since most of the others have gone.

Re: how to get rid of toothache

my wisdom teeth grew outwards at the top and forward at the bottom , i had to have them removed at the hospital. on another note my hubby has had a few wisdom teeth pulled out and keep growing back, not as a full tooth though more like half the size of one

Re: how to get rid of toothache

got all my wisdom teeth, never really had a problem with them, only the gum flapping over it and getting the odd bit of food stuck:(

Yes oil of cloves proved to be very good for tooth-ache, as was proved in the film 'Marathon Man'.

Just watch that, it will take your mind off your little bit of pain!
:)

YouTube - Is it safe?
