Car Tax Due? - Save yourself £££'s

Is your car tax due soon? if so then don't tax it for 12 month, just do it for 6 month, it will then be due again in March 2009 (If taxed end of Aug), just before the big price increase, all depends on the car you have but you could save about £90 on the new 2009 prices, but seems as your taxing it for 6 month this time it works out about £20 dearer, so will actually save about £70.
"might" even be worth cashing your tax in at the end of August then re-taxing it from the start of September for 6 month.
See HERE for next years tax prices for your car, and HERE for this years price - BIG difference eh

Mine goes down by £10 a year, woohoo!!

entwisi 16-07-2008 14:34

Re: Car Tax Due? - Save yourself £££'s

remember the prices quoted don't take into account any rises teh gov choose to apply so your -£10 might still turn into a +£20 if they decide to raise it £30 across teh board

on the plus side it does hit 4x4 owners in the nuts :D

good tip for saving money , can you do tax refunds online now or is it limited to declaring sorn ?

entwisi 17-07-2008 06:09

Re: Car Tax Due? - Save yourself £££'s

Unless your 4x4 is pre 2001 in which case its cheaper than some "family saloons"

Thing you have to send the sorn bit off the V5 back so wouldn't think it's possible online

Re: Car Tax Due? - Save yourself £££'s

flippin eck, I didn't realise this was actually happening... Mine goes up to 440 next year and 950 the year after. At least it gives me a genuine reason to buy a real gas guzzler, as my current diesel gets 30mpg, but for the same tax price I can drive a 12mpg Range Rover Sport Supercharged! I can't wait till 2010, thanks for the excuse you lovely govenment :D

WE HAVE A 2002 DIESEL AND OUR TAX IS £35 FOR THE YEAR
I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO HAS TO PAY ALOT FOR THE
PLEASURE OF OWNING A CAR NOWADAYS BUT THE DIESEL
IS EXPENSIVE SO THEY GET US IN OTHER WAYS :mosher:
