Sorry girls, I know I'm totally letting the side down here but......I don't know how to do it. :o

It's just one of those things that my husband's always done. I've never asked to be shown......very embarrassed to admit this. Maybe I will ask him to show me. I think it is a basic thing that all drivers should be able to do.

Changed many a tyre in my driving life Emamum ... trouble is they tighten those nuts up so bloody tight these days, 'aint got the muscle power to reverse them, so have always to send for that 'very, very, nice man' to do it for me .. LOL.

Have just got my renewal from the Mother of this very, very nice man ... £ 214 !! (top cover) .. OK .. still paying for son too (this will have to stop .. he earning more than me now !!). Nevertheless, worth every penny .. hope you lot covered here.

I check my oil and water when I think about it, which isn't really often enough (must admit did it on Wednesday) but hey ho who cares, the little belter still runs, and gets me where I want to go. :D

During her first year of driving my daughter managed to blow two engines one in my little Citreon that I had let her borrow for a few months, then in her Fiesta despite the fact that I'd always ask if she'd checked the oil and got a yes for the answer, turned out she thought 'checking the oil' meant oil change on a yearly service at the garage.

She definitely knows what it means now, but I still go out and check it when she comes over just in case.

Katex check you bank, barclays does an account called additions plus which includes full personal breakdcown cover, travel insurance, will writing, mobile insurance and more all for 15 quid a month or 180 a year. I am pretty sure the other banks do similar.

PS being a pedant its changing a wheel what is being discussed, changing a tyre is what mr kwik fit et al do :D

Thanks for that Entwisi .. mine actually costs £ 180 and just £34 extra for my son with the same facilites, but will certainly take a look.

Yes, you right re. wheel/tyre .. just one of those things you say ... doubt whether could get the tyre off without that specialised equipment .. :D
