Do I need an electrician or a gas man?

The clock thing on my central heating has stopped going round so it doesn't go on and go off twice a day like it's set - it's stopped at 2200hrs. So we have to manually put it on and manually switch it off at the moment. This is fine for now as the weather's not too bad and if I switch it on when i get up it's ok in about 15mins.

But who do I call to have it fixed - an electrician because presumably it's electric or do I call a gas man as it's a gas boiler?

And does anyone know anyone who can do it?

I would say gas - an electrician probably wouldnt touch it because it is a gas appliance.
If it is close to needing a service it might be worth paying for a service to get it fixed .

It's seperate from it.

It'll be a sparks you want for that Gayle, but might be an idea to get a fully service for a full check up

Electrician would do it for you then. What is it doing, anything?

Nothing, which is the problem.

Some of them only clip on the plate at the back. Have you checked how much a new one would be, may be cheaper than electrician and easily resolved.

Simple ones ( in other words ones than humans can use ) start at about £30 at screwfix depending if it controls heating and water or just heating.
