Heating information!

Anyone who has had a central heating breakdown in the last few weeks will know how difficult it is to get a decent engineer round to fix it, I was out late every day last week, the earliest finish was 7pm, the latest was 10pm, this is because people turn the heating off completely for around 3 months, and expect it to work when they switch back on, well, you wouldnt park your car for 3 months and expect it to start would you!
So, in summer, turn down the room thermostat, if you dont have one, turn down the boiler thermostat, this means the heating will start all the moving parts regularly, and not actually generate any heat, and there is more chance that it will start up when you turn the heating back up in the wintertime, and every man and his dog wont be ringing at the same time wanting assistance!:D And will save you time, trouble and expense! :D

Presume OK to have coming on and off then in Summer, as cannot have heating on without hot water, and don't wish hot water on all the time. Has proved expensive in the past ..

"every man and his dog!" LOL .. hope I am not the "dog" that used your excellent services last week ... :D

Haha, it could cost me a few quid I reckon, but will save some accywebbers a few, and I will get a little more of my limited time off, was working all day saturday and a few on sunday, as some on here could testify!

yes Kate, it is ok, if your hot water proves more expensive to run constant, you may be lacking in the lagging department, homebase have lagging jackets on sale at £5.99 at the minute, and dog?? dear, Kate, you couldnt be a dog if you tried! :D And we are glad to be of service, thank you! x

Would have thought your 2 would be warm enough, as they do 90 miles an hour most of the day!

As for my leaky radiator, reported it at 10am this morning had had an engineer out at around 11am to fix it. Am impressed with the service by hyndburn homes on this one, but in saying that, the last fault I had Derek talked me through it and helped me sort it without even calling them out :D

Have sent a pm:D and you are right, bbu's are very reliable, but can be expensive to run.
