Make up for pregnant ladies

There is press coverage today advising pregnant women not to wear make up
Pregnant women warned off make-up - Health News, Health & Wellbeing - The Independent
This is because it contains harmful chemicals which are absorbed into the body through the skin.
"A 2007 study claimed British women absorb an average of 5lb of cosmetics a year through their skin and mouths"
There are toiletries and cosmetics which are safe to use.
You can find some here

PS - if it can harm your baby it can also harm you
so cut down your poison intake even if you aren't pregnant

Afraid I am a lost case with this Margaret, however, just spotted a product my friend in Spain uses from Neal's Yard based in Manchester.

She always had a bad skin when in her teens and loves their moisturiser .. she ordered on line, had them sent to my house and I finished up carting 7 pots in my suitcase to her in September. No wonder I was 8 kilos overweight ! ... :D

Spot on Lilly .. having had a huge gap between my two children, the advice had done a U-turn more than the American Highways. Guilt trips or what !

As if your body expanding so that none of your clothes fit, possibly your feet swelling up so that your shoes don't fit either, not being able to eat a myriad of your favourite foods and not being able to have a bevvy to cheer yourself up wasn't enough............now we are being told to go without make up too!!

Putting a bit of tutti on was about the only thing I could do to make me feel half decent when I was pregnant.

We are now aware that many toiletries and cosmetics damage health, so I am surprised that people still buy them, - there are unharmful versions on the market.(see links I posted).

More public awareness is needed, AND a ban on their use in the cosmetics industry.

At one time we assumed our skin to be a barrier to the world - not so.
The latest innovation in cosmetics is nanoparticles which penetrate even further, crossing the the blood brain barrier
