Can he see you in it? :D

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

Very few lifeforms other than humans recognise that they are looking at themselves when looking in a mirror.
That bird thinks he/she has competition for food and your attention.

Unfortunately most `birds` i have met over the years have had problems with mirrors............

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

I feel a lot like that when I look in the mirror.....I think if I had feathers I would pull them out. :)

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

he's a beautiful bird (Golden Mantel Rosella to give him his 'proper' name) with his looks you'd think he'd love looking in the mirror ;)

Has he just got the mirror?
Maybe he thinks this bird (his reflection) is a threat and gonna take you away from him?, if he's close to YOU then he may see this as another bird and trying to show whos boss?...just an idea;)

flashy 06-03-2009 18:29

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

Its coming round to spring, it the time when nest building starts, he sees that bird in the mirror as a potential rival. Try putting it on the bottom of a bowl of water, see what happens, birds don't bother when they look down to drink, and see their reflection

Retlaw.

Parrots are very destructive creatures, once he finds out how to get it off the cage he will keep doing it, Its all good for the bird though, keeps his mind occupied, plenty of toys too.
Good to see you got a spray, do it a couple of times a week

flashy 07-03-2009 15:04

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

the bloke in the pet shop said every morning, he said you shouldnt ever spray them at night

i've moved the mirror out of his way now anyway, the little sod nearly broke it :D

emamum 07-03-2009 15:42

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

why do you need to spray it?

flashy 07-03-2009 16:36

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

it helps with their preening

ewwwwwww Jay

my baby has a new larger house now, infact its a mansion compared to his last 'house', i've just moved his 'furniture' into it and he is happily exploring his new home

thankyou to the kind accyweb delivery man who sold me it and put the cage together for me, sorry about the bite that you got in return, at least now i know that the bird can do something else other than just whistle *snigger*

Ken you truly are a star ;) :D:D:D

K.S.H 09-03-2009 10:50

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

It bit twice.just noticed when I got home
Nowt compared to a greys bite though, they'll probably snap the bone if they bit properly, when you see a nut shell being crushed in its beak it makes you wonder what it could do to a finger

flashy 09-03-2009 10:53

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

oh dear, i didnt know he'd done it twice, i'm not laughing, honest

We had a budgie when I was young, we used to let it fly round the house like a good un, until one night he decided to take a dip in the chip pan that was still cooling after tea, funny really never did much flying after that:rolleyes:

the mirror issue has now passed, he has an issue with my wallpaper now, he likes eating it....how do i stop him? he eats the wallpaper above the curtain poles

K.S.H 03-04-2009 14:14

Re: someone has SERIOUS issues they need to get over

move the curtain pole up as far as you can, he'll only be able to eat the paper below it then :-)
