upvc door
Hiya
i currently have a upvc front door which is all white plastic, i've decided i want to have a front door with a glass window in, my question is do i need to buy a whole new door or can you just buy the panel to fit inside the door? Are they any double glazers on accyweb? If so please IM with your answers / quotes Thanks Neil |

It is possible to fit one, but you need a craftsman who knows what he's doing. Retlaw. |

Thanks for the reply Retlaw, i wouldn't even dream of tackling it on my own, i'd end up with no door left :D i'm going to pop into a glazers on day this week and see what they say, it might just be cheaper and easier to buy a full new door! Thanks again Neil |
Re: upvc door
I know my parents front door has a removable middle panel. They replaced it a few years ago because it went yellow but the rest of the door was still white. I suspect they could have fitted a glass one. I am not big on glass front doors myself. Not too bad if you can't see through it but naff if you can.

Re: upvc door
yeah. the frame is made to fit your opening then the panel is cut to fit the frame. go into any of the door-window places and they will get you a panel for it, they'll want to know the thickness of it as well as size, there easy o do yourelf, just make sure yours hasn't been glued in

Re: upvc door
There beaded both internally and externally, just depends on the manufacturer and which way he thinks about security.
externally beaded you can kick or push as hard and for as long as you like from outside and you won't push that panel in, your up against 5mm or so of solid plastic so its not going anywhere, you could take the beading out though, remove the spacers and the panel will literally fall out - hence the siliconing in to stop this, it will be hard to get hold of it and pull it out if its held with silicone. Internally beaded Can't get at the beading to remove the panel, they don't take much to be kicked in though, that beadings only held in by a sliver of plastic |
Re: upvc door
Even better fit a proper wooden door :D:D

Re: upvc door
Thats what I prefer, rather have wood windows too but UPVC is the easy maintenance option

Re: upvc door
Just remember that a door with a big window in is an easy way into your house.
It's easy to smash the window and then open the door or climb in. |

Yes I am a double glazer, yes you can remove the existing panel and replace with any style you want, you first need to find a panel you like, call me and I will arrange for a catalogue to be posted to you
