Shouldn't be confusing for you, just count 14 days after your last warning or ban and bang that's the time!

Or you could http://planetsmilies.net/person-smiley-1290.gif for it.

Down to a serious answer. It is said 2 weeks before your next period, but as every woman is different, it is hard to give an exact reply, if you go into a chemist and get one of those little booklets they have on ailments, or whatever they call them, that may give you a more specific answer.

flashy 05-04-2009 20:12

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

thanx for that Vera, its very confusing with me anyway, i have pcos so i may not even be able to concieve, i have only got a 1% chance of having anymore, i dont always have regular periods either

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

google it
Ovulation: All you need to know about ovulation | Getting pregnant: tips and advice | Family | goodtoknow
When you ovulate depends on the due date of your next period and not the previous one. Eg: If your cycle regularly lasts 31 days, you should ovulate on day 17. So if you have sex on your prime fertile days, between days 14 and 17, you have a good chance of falling pregnant.

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

i was due mine today but havent yet, getting all the pains that go with it though...so i have to wait another 2 weeks then?

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

It is very difficult to predict ovulation in someone with your condition Flashy, which is why I have hesitated before replying to your question.
Theoretically in someone with a regular 28 day cycle ovulation would occur around day 14......this doesn't help you very much.
I can tell you that your period will appear 14 days after you have ovulated.......but again that isn't much help.
You need to go and see your GP for proper advice and maybe a referral to a gynaecologist.

katex 05-04-2009 20:24

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

Just go at it everyday Flashy, than you can't go wrong.

Personally, only had two, but could pin it down both times to 11 days after the end of my period.

How can you say 'before' when you don't know when will be your next ? .. like when people gave me directions (usually men) ... "and before you get to the garage ... turn right, if you have gone passed it you have missed the turning" ....

That's the problem for flashy Katex........she is going to need proper professional help(either that or a team of men :) )

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

I have needed professional help for a long time Margaret lol

I dont want a whole team of men....just the one i have will do ta very much lol

Margaret Pilkington 05-04-2009 20:34

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

No Flashy, you won't if you have a long cycle....say for instance 44 days, then you will ovulate around day 30.......and your period will arrive day 44 if you don't conceive.
That is the tough part of PCOS.......you really can't tell when you are going to ovulate unless you keep an ovulation calendar.
This means taking your temperature every morning before you get out of bed....the day you ovulate your temperature will go up by half a degree....and then you have to hope that the man in your life is in the mood.
Even this method is a bit hit and miss because you can have a temperature if you have a bit of an infection.......this is why I suggest professional help.

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

Flashy, wasn't being 'fly' about the team of men....it is just that men need some time to grow new stocks....if you get my drift.

flashy 05-04-2009 20:37

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

oh how confusing lol

like Kate said, i reckon i'll just have to have it everyday then lol

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

taken from another website..

Quote:

A simple rule of thumb is this that the average woman is fertile 14 days before her period starts - so If you have a 4 week cycle you will be fertile 2 weeks into your cycle - a 5 week cycle on week 3, a 6 week cycle week 4.. if your cycles are irregular this is harder to guess..

You can take temps - your temp normally drops before ovulation and rises after - but this is only by tiny amounts... and you need a 'basal' thermometer - to work it out (it only moves by points of a degree)... if you go the route of temperature taking you need to take it every morning at the same time (or as close to it) and before you do anything... so you cant even get out of bed to find the the thermometer...

there are a few websites out there that are free to help you chart your fertility... google fertility friend (I think that is one)

Re: whats the best....(women only please)

dont think that will work for me Emma, i still havent started so god knows when i'll be fertile
