Clipping birds nails

for the last 2 months i've been trying to catch flame so i can clip his nails...to no avail...everytime i try to catch him he flies away.

I'm too short to reach the top of the cage so the best thing i've come up with is throwing a towel on him but everytime i do that he buggers off

anyone got any tips?

mrs gg has 2 crimson rosellas at her mums and does this alot in her pet business,
she simply catches the bird in corner of cage, wraps in towel and clips away..same principal whether it be beak or wing feathers..
