just a little widget?
from what is understood, the council are going to introduce recycling for plastics, as a regular user of john smiths extra smooth (in cans i might add ) does this mean that the little plastic widget in the can will now have to be seperated and placed in a different receptical? this has been posted on lesses behalf, cos he cant see the keyboard!;) :D

Re: just a little widget?
I would assume so Mez, ring the Council and ask em...:D
|
Re: just a little widget?
I doubt it, the widget will be burnt off when its recycled.
If they are recycling plastics then its most likely for things like pop bottles etc. |

It wasn't so much the 'what' as the 'where' which intrigued me Mez. :D

Re: just a little widget?
I think that you should have to separate your plastic widgets from your tin cans - but of course you must do this without crushing or damaging the can and thus making it dangerous for the binmen to handle.
Another question - the lids from takeaway meals have foil on one side and cardboard on the other - should we try peeling them apart to put in the appropriate bags? (This is also for the benefit of Less!) |
Re: just a little widget?
What about my baked bean tins which have been opened by a vicious tin opener leaving a sharp edge? Are they dangerous for the bin men too? Gosh it's a hard life in refuse collecting these days, especially considering all they really have to do is tip the contents of a blue box into a truck. That explains why no-one picked up the lid which dropped out of my box, it must have been dangerous.

Re: just a little widget?
Ahh Willow - you obviously haven't taken the time to watch them at their work. They infact sort through your box and throw the glass in one shute of the wagon and the tin in another (both shutes probably lead to the same big heap knowing HBC!).

Re: just a little widget?
So how come we put it all in the one box?
