Classic FM
I like to listen to Classic FM whilst driving in my car...I bought a new car recently and unfortunately the radio reception is very poor when I am tuned into Classic FM...so poor on occasions that I have to turn it off...do you listen to this radio station and do you have this problem...I have contacted the car dealer that sold me the car and they checked the radio and told me that they are unable to solve my problem...they admit that there is a problem but do not know how to solve it...they actually said it may be poor reception from Classic FM themselves...can you please advise me what to do next...it is spoiling the pleasure of driving a new car and listening to my favourite radio station...

Re: Classic FM
I listen occasionally and I don't have issues on any part of the journey from Accy to Knutsford.
TBH I think a lot of modern car radio's are of poor quality and due to them liking to make them bespoke to the car its not as easy to switch to a better quality one now. They also have a liking for not using a proper external aerial and embedding it into the rear screen heater which makes it even worse. you could try using an external aerial, if this fixes it then get a 'old style' telescopic aerial fitted to the car. what sort of car is it? One other option whilst not ideal would be to have a portable/better quality/more sensitive radio and a FM transmitter and effectively retransmit the Classic FM from the portable to teh car stereo. You may lose a bit of quality of listening to the portable one directly but not too much. some mobile phones have quite decent FM radios built in so this may be one option. hope this helps |

Re: Classic FM
is it a DAB digital radio or normal analog FM style that is fitted? I would say I have a DAB and its rubbish compared to FM for reception.

Re: Classic FM
For some reason my radio would by-pass radio 2, straight over to radio 4, I finally moved the search manually, I had put the radio close to where radio 2 should be, then by stabbing at the control to move it along a little bit, (holding it down meant that yet again auto would take over), until hip, hip hooray, there was radio 2, I then held down one of the buttons until it made the beeps and... now I have the ginger minge every morning.
Auto search sometimes doesn't work try a bit of patience, be physical, spend some time caressing your instrument of pleasure sometimes that's all you need. Mind you, if I couldn't find Classic FM, I wouldn't be such an embarrassment to myself by starting a thread about it, I'd have spent £30 replacing the radio with some sort of wind up one. :) |
