Tell you what Garinda I wish everything else was as good as my blood pressure, that's something I have never had problems with. In fact only two weeks ago when a community matron took my blood pressure, she said, how come somebody with extensive chest problems has near perfect blood pressure ;)

I wasn't meaning you, but someone who daily drank their own body weigh in beetroot juice.

I wonder if your result would have been different, if it had been a sexy young nurse, rather than Matron taking your blood pressure?

I have low blood pressure, and I regularly include beetroot in my 'green smoothies'.
I don't eat tomatoes, so beetroot is a colourful addition to salads.
...a much underrated vegetable - it actually tastes nice.

I recently bought a bottle of beetroot juice but haven't opened it yet - saving it for a time when I may run out of the whole veg.

I've always liked beetroot Margaret, both fresh of pickled, in fact there are very few foods that I don't like really

If that was a pic of a smoothie bar, it is understandable.
Most people own a blender or a juicer.

PS it is much easier to juice a pint of fruit and veg than spend an hour chewing through a pile of the stuff

They might well be smooth, and therefore more comfortable, but it's actually a photograph of red stools.

1 beetroot
3" piece of cucumber

Linda McCartney was a great advocate of beetroot...... say no more. Everything in moderation. Eat fresh, local and not processed, the rubbish that is served up to us these days is diabolical, we need to keep the few local shops we have and say no to the mass produced, chemical sprayed, hormone and steroid grown produce that they are palming of to us as 'economy' buys, cheap to the pocket but not to health! I know we have to buy carefully but we shouldn't have to sell our selves cheap to contribute to the purses of the supermarket giants.

Nowt new in that John, my mother used to make beetroot wine before the war, and before you crack up and ask which war, the last one. I always plant lots of beetroot on the plot, but this year the dammed weather has made most of them bolt.
