Trains

Hi, at the moment there is a huge amount of work going on around the Arnside area, affecting the train services.
This is all connected with the bridge there.

Just thought any of our members who are interested in steam trains may like to look at this website. Scroll down to 3rd photo and watch the video

Many Thanks, Atarah. That video brings back very happy memories for me of holidays in Grange Over Sands as a kid in the late 50s/early 60s. We used to wait on the footbridge for the trains to pass underneath, and waved to the driver. I can still smell the sulphur as we were clouded in the smoke from the engine.

Happy, happy days!

:):):):):)

Great video .... as we seem to be having an Accy day in K-town ..... cool, damp, drizzle, miserable;):D .... I think I will spend some time watching videos of steam locomotives and drinking Lancaster Bomber.:theband:

Any experts around who can identify the engine?

The Duke of Gloucester is preserved and has been running on the East Lancs line recently. It could be that one as it is a Standard 8. I know it has been as far as Barrow which is via the viaduct near Grange. Sad aren't I.

Taken at Ramsbottam. It has the Caprotti valve gear.
You can always tell it from the smelly diesels cos it goes chuff chuff.

I was walking in the Cemetery on Burnley road when it came past, I didn't get a proper look at it but here are the details below.

The Duke of Gloucester is a Brit Eric. If you pause the video you can make out three words on the name plate and the middle one is a short one.

It runs all over the mainland UK on the steam tours program.

The Flying Scotsman is due back out on the rails in July. The boiler is just being refitted at the works in Bury on the East Lancs line and it will be running there for a few weeks for trials before it goes back on it's tours.
