There is, or was, a Civic Society in Ossie. An Alan(?) Ormerod has a big interest in Ossie history. He did some great drawings for the Ossie |Mills project

Soz, never thought!
Methodist Chapel The Stanhill Residents Association received a proposal from a local resident to establish the village Chapel as a combined Methodist/James Hargreaves heritage centre. This was late 2010. This had the support of the national Methodist Heritage. Clearly the linkages between the industrial and Methodist heritage in the village are strong. Lancashire Museum Service were contacted. The head of this said they would be pleased to advise the project. They also suggested a source within the North West museum network where the group could access equipment and resources. Again, this was 2010. Sounds promising, so am trying to find out more as to how they went about it all. |

Re: Info wanted on a new group formed in Ossy
There is a meeting at 7.30pm (I think) at Peel Park pub in Accrington on Monday 28th November.
It is being held by a group who want to set up a local history museum in the old out houses at the Haworth Art Gallery. All welcome. The person to contact is [email protected] if you want any more info. |

Info wanted on a new group formed in Ossy
er no Gayle. I was after info on a group which had been set up in Ossy about Ossy, just so we could politely try and "pick their brains" as to how they had gone about it.
Their is a separate thread about a Museum in Accrington and we are not after an outbuilding up the Haworth????? |
