Fireplace help

I'm opening my fireplace up to put in an open fire, but need to replace some bricks. I've read that I need to use lime mortar as it helps prevent drying out, but found an article recently saying all mortar is heat resistant.

What type of mortar should be used and where can I get it?

If your are opening out a fireplace to install an open fire, you need to watch what your doing ordinary bricks will explode if subject to heat from an open fire, you will need fire bricks, and the requisit mortar for them.
