Fairfield Street
Anyone know what's happening to Fairfield Street (from Exchange St. to Charter St.) One way signs are up on the lamp, but not heard anything. ???
|
Re: Fairfield Street
Don't know Dave. I know they are supposed to be doing something about road safety around there, but not sure it's that. Possibly something to do with the services for the new school? You can't get down Exchange St from Richmond Rd at the mo.

Re: Fairfield Street
Yeah, probably someting like that...
Thanks Caz. |

Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
Yes. It's a pain though. means more traffic at this bottom end from le profil at the moment.
It looks like those traffic calming measures on Fairfield St have been put on hold now until the next financial year, by the way. |
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
Yeah... They have taken the one way signs down now & put traffic lights up!!!
Hooray... :'( :'( |
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
anyone know what they are doing with the childrens play area on Fairfield St?
|
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
£70,000 is due be spent on Fairfield St in this financial year. Although final decisions on exactly how it will be spent had not been made at the time of the last Springhill Network meeting. The money, mostly from an agreement with Barratt Manchester, was almost diverted to Rhyddings Park in Oswaldtwistle, until Councillor Edith Dunston stepped in.
A further £20,000 is to be spent on cycle ways in the area. |
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
With regards to the play area on Fairfield Street, has anybody noticed there are no swings attached?
Well there has'nt been for as long as i can remember, there was talk about putting them back infact quite some time ago people came round with a petition to have them put back. I was talking to a lady from Springfield Avenue (very near the play area) and she said they did'nt want them putting back because it would encourage youngsters to play there at night. |
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
The swings have been down for quite a while now.
At a public consultation in June, residents were able to vote on four different options for the land's use. Leaving it as it is. Re-instating a play area for the under eights. Minimal paths and tree planting More extensive work. Representatives from Hyndburn Council & Groundwork East Lancashire were present at the meeting, and the result of the vote will be presented to a meeting of Hyndburn Council's Cabinet in September for a final decision. The chosen scheme will then be carried out by Groundwork as part of its Action PACT environmental programme. |
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers

on parks and childrens play areas throughout the area ??? |
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
Yes, this is just part of that. Other areas include India St and Church Kirk. Not sure about the rest.

Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
just a quick question
i have a old chair and fridge to get rid of who do i get intouch with and do you know the number ??? |
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
Main council number is 388111
Tell them you have bulky household waste to dispose of, and they will put you through to the correct department. The Council currently operates a free collection service for large domestic items such as cookers, tables etc. Request for the removal of such items will normally occur within 7 working days. Because the service is free of charge a restriction to the quantity, type of waste and frequency of request may apply. Please note this service also includes the removal of fridges, however, fridges are subject to a special collection as they must be de-gassed before disposal. and are collected separately. |

Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
Do you know that LCC can organise free computer classes for this area all we need is a centre/school/church.
|
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
Re the grants, Cazzann, have sent an email to councillor Edith Dunston, awaiting a reply.
Re computer classes. Hopefully Springhill will get the old school building as a Community Centre when the new school is in use. This is one of the suggestions that has already been put forward for its possible use. There is a Springhill Network Group meeting at Fairfield Street Centre next Wednesday, 15th October, 7.30pm. If you have a lot of questions about the area, you could pop along then. :) |
Re: Springhill Questions & Answers
No reply to my email as yet Cazzann, and it's been over a week.
Suppose we shouldn't be surprised! ;D |
