What about the radio then?
 

I would think that quite a number of us predate everyone having a TV - we got our first one in the mid-50s, when it wasn't a full day service. Everyone had a wireless, though, and there were some brilliant programmes - Hancock's Half Hour, Round the Horne, The Goon Show, and loads of others. What do you remember best, and which was/were your favourites?

Dick Barton....Mrs Dale's Diary........Workers playtime.......Billy Cotton Bandshow......Friday night is Music Night.........Uncle Mac on a Saturday morning.......Larry the Lamb (not sure if that was the name of the programme) No of course it wasn't.......it was Toytown.......OMG does this qualify me for my pension?

the top 20 on a sunday on luxemborg, also jimmy savilles T.T.D.C. another classic.

I remember ITMA (but after the war). Also remember The Man in Black on a Saturday night, Henry Hall's dance band, Mrs Dale's Diary, Dick Barton Special Agent, Just William, Workers' Playtime. A bit later (we got our first TV in 1952 but it was only on for 2 hours a day) all the programmes Pendy mentions. I think the Goons has to be my favourite of all time, closely followed by Round the Horn and Hancock. I've also listened to The Archers since Day One - and still do. :D

I prefer radio to the television most of the time.
But I can't exactly reminisce, I'm only 17 afterall.
Steve Lamacq's show is a must-listen for me always.

I used to love listening to radio Luxemburg and radio Caroline when I was young.
I also used to listen to Alan Beswick on Red Rose Radio. He was brilliant and sooo funny.
