Stanley Holloway, Rob Wilton and Al Read - superb! I bought a CD of Al Read just a few months ago. What an observer of human life. :D

Great Site Less.

I used to have books with Marriott Edgar poems and someone else whose name escapes me who did the one about the Battle of Hastings "Arold on 'is 'orse with 'is 'awk in 'is 'and"

I remember a comedy record by a bloke called Paddy Roberts, in the 60s, called The Ballad of Bethnal Green. It was a sort of spoof folk song about a girl who fell for a Teddy Boy. I can't remember all the words but do remember a bit that went -

She was blond and dumb and she lived with her mum
On the edge of Bethnal Green.

And another bit -

And she loved the gay abandoned way
He chewed his chewing gum.

The chorus was all titty-fal-lal-lah-lay...etc. Is that the one you mean GrannyC?

:D
