Stanley Holloway, Rob Wilton and Al Read - superb! I bought a CD of Al Read just a few months ago. What an observer of human life. :D

Re: Make 'Em Laugh
I remember a comedy record by a bloke called Paddy Roberts, in the 60s, called The Ballad of Bethnal Green. It was a sort of spoof folk song about a girl who fell for a Teddy Boy. I can't remember all the words but do remember a bit that went -
She was blond and dumb and she lived with her mum On the edge of Bethnal Green. And another bit - And she loved the gay abandoned way He chewed his chewing gum. The chorus was all titty-fal-lal-lah-lay...etc. Is that the one you mean GrannyC? :D |
