Anyway I was saying when WE were kids the only entertianment was outside.. but people always complain that these days the kids spend to much time indoors on PC's or watching telly.. but when they are outdoors the same people complain..you can't have it both ways.. would you rather them indoors or outdoors? |

Re: Our house in the middle of our street
I mean people complain about kids hangin around outside.. and in the same breath complain that kids sit at home on the playstation or watching telly.. so what do the bods that moan about unruly kids on here have to say... playstation or hangin around outside?

Re: Our house in the middle of our street
the owd saying comes to mind "childer shud bi sin an not erd " providing they are not kicking a football at my gable end wall let them run free'
the young-uns should be allowed to make their own fun , my local area just spent thousands on a new skate park designed and built by college educated experts with degrees in youth motivation and creative expession (I kid you not)and the kids dont/wont use it , they prefer the old one they built themselves out of salvaged lumber and stuff , |
Re: Our house in the middle of our street
Outside getting fresh air, having fun and using their imaginations.

Re: Our house in the middle of our street
love to see kids playing outside, so long as they take their footballs to parks n spare land, theres no substitute for imagination.

Re: Our house in the middle of our street
Where it's safe....... indoors !!
I'd rather she spends her time creating websites than being the subject of some pedo's website. When the streets are safe I might change my mind. |
Re: Our house in the middle of our street
Well i prefer mine out not because im tight, but to enjoy the outdoors, fresh air, exercise, social interaction & fun in the local vacinity. Also to not fear the outside world but also teach them street wise attitude & safety, especially in this day & age, altho there were pedo's & flasers about when i was little & was fortunate not to come across them as such, as warned about street safety. But as far as how much freedom i do give as to where they go or roam then that depends where & who & whether its suitable for their age & maturity also with whom.

Re: Our house in the middle of our street
Hehehehe had to laugh a few summers back after giving my oldest a lecture & chucked out to play, then asked me, "how do i make a den then?" & "i'll need to get this that & tother from house to furnish it" :rofl38:, geee we just went out & made one with whatever we could find, i had a good few dens up Peel Park, kids today have no clue & no imagination or intuition on it but expect things to be made or done on tap like their console games!!

Re: Our house in the middle of our street
I think a mixture of both, I dont think children should be on the computers/gaming all day or watching tv for that matter but there's nothing wrong with a balance. We were always outside as kids but I think it was safer back then but some of the things we used to get up to I wouldn't like Ellie to do!:o
