...talking of ice lollies, does anybody remember Pennock's ice lollies? For those who don't know, Pennock's was a little sweetshop on the corner of Richmond Street and Higher Antley Street. They made their own ice lollies and for some reason, they managed to get more flavour in them than any other lolly around. They were also in the Guinness Book of Records at one time because they had the biggest cat in the world...not a lot of people know that.

what about a MAMBO, flavoured Ice in a sort of triangle shaped plastic thingy. You`d cut the top off and push the ice up. The first suck was always strong flavoured and then the rest tasted wassy

Bags of saspirillas, coltfoots rock, rainbow sherbet and Victory Vs. During school breaks we could buy cheese biscuits or chocolate fingers for a penny (that's pre-decimal guys!). When it went decimal we were offered penny wafers. And what about non PC purchases like tobacco sweets; packs of cigarettes with pink tips, chocolate cigars and sweet rolling tobacco in pouches. How did our teeth ever survive??

We used to buy REAL cigarettes `singles` from a shop up Burnley road in Clayton. You would ask for how many you wanted and she waould give you them in a little toffee bag and a few matches to go with them:D

Garbage Pail Kids, Rubble Gum, Jaw Breakers, Sour Berries, Wham Bars, Snap, Crackle and Pop bars.

I particularly miss Sour Berries but they were taken from the shelves because they were sending kids a bit crazy with all the chemicals in them.
