My great aunt who ran a Bispham boarding house (1940s) served no other type of bread - she had a bread slicer the size of a bacon slicer - guests must have eaten lots of it, but food was rationed then.

It certainly does exist and I buy it occasionally. My daughter loves it and says it reminds her of her Nan (my mum) who always bought it when ever she went to stay with Mum and Dad as a child. She still calls it Blackpool Milk Roll because my mother did.

Re: Milk Roll

my mum always used to eat that stuff!, used to give it the kiddies with round chicken roll on it, it matches perfectly...:D

now they can't stand the stuff!!

Re: Milk Roll

My gran used to get it all the time, I liked it for sandwiches but not toast, it's too thin for toast. My dad still buys it regularly and the child likes it ! ( though prefers Warbys Toastie for bacon sarnies!)
