what was your favourite book?
Mine was velveteen rabbit.. just bought ty a copy and the bit where the rabbit gets thrown outside to be burnt is still sad :(

Mine has to be the Enid Blyton books. Famous Five.................I named my dog Timmy :)

Ane the Mallory Towers and the St Clairs books. I always wanted to go to Boarding School after reading those

I went to school at age 3 and could read at age 5.
The children's book which made a big impression on me was-
Children of the New Forest
It stirred my interest in history which has lasted a lifetime.

i loved all the Enid Blyton books when i was ickler, but i loved reading Topsy and Tim when i was at school :D

I was a fan of Enid Blyton's Secret Seven, Mallory Towers and St Clare's series.

I also liked Judy Blume books. When we were about 13 the girls in our class discovered the book 'Forever' which was about a girl losing her virginity to her boyfriend.

It was thought to be quite explicit at the time although it would be quite tame now I suppose. We thought it was almost pornographic. :eek::D

Mine was James and the Giant peach!!! First book I ever read all on my own, and that was the start of a love of books.

I loved Enid Blyton's Famous Five books and the Faraway Tree books. I also adored Richmal Crompton's "William" - and still do. :D

All mentioned so far have fond memories, but the biggest thrill for me was a book I'm surprised hasn't yet been mentioned, was the one I remember my parent's reading to me and then I read to my children.

Wind In The Willows.

So many questions of, how, when, why, that I asked and then they were repeated to me and so difficult to explain, I had the same problem with mine! But the joys of the book, (and then taking them to the Cinema, (still so much better than renting a video), and watching joy on their faces), as the story unfolds before their eyes, because they know that bit! Yes, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and others can be heroes but nothing is like seeing the written word transformed into the adventures those animals went through.

O.K. so that's my thought anyway! :D

i get annoyed when books are made into films because they always jazz it up instaed of sticking to the original... i loved roald dahl but i dont like the new charlie and the chocolate factory because its too different to the book.

i know what you mean Em about them making the films different to the books, but i thought Johnny Depps version of the film was absolutely hilarious, the adult humour in it had me in stitches when i went to see it at the cinema

Enid blyton's the magic faraway tree! loved them, famous 5, the lion the witch and the wardrobe i loved reading as a child i used to read to my sister.
