Re: 1st. Barbers
I used to go to Joe's in Lodge St. Quick Nick is right, he used to do me and my mate in about 5 minutes flat. His 'salon' was in the front room of a terraced house and as the room filled up you could see Joe speed up. You could always tell which kids had been to Joe's, they turned up at school next day with a bonehead haircut and a plaster on one ear !

Re: 1st. Barbers
Are you sure it was a haircut you had.

Re: 1st. Barbers
Yeh, 'salon' probably isn't the right word for a barber's in the sixties. Cropshop'll do

Re: 1st. Barbers
In the fifties my first visit to the barbers was the shop at the corner of albion st and king st I don't know if the shop had a name but the barber was Harry Clemmy

Scott's was between the butchers and Mrs Towlers shop if memory serves. We used both these shops and also Mr Lunt the confectioners. I think my dad went to Norman Scott. |
