When we were engaged my mother in law to be used to dose my fiance with Liqufruta for a cold.

In those days it wasn't custom to use garlic, so I recall it smelt foul on his breath.
What a passion killer that was.

It sounds awful. What was it for?

Well it was supposed to keep the colds away during the winter.....it had cod liver oil in it......and it tasted vile.
I used to hide when my mother was doling out this stuff, which incidentally my mother could not afford, but my Grandma used to buy it for us all to be dosed with.

I remember the smell and taste of the chlorine from Accy baths and the chippy smells. The most obvious smell on a visit to the market was the smell of fish from the fish market. Also sulphur smells at Blythes Chemicals and Broad Oak and the River Stink used to be very strong in that area.

My first job at 15 years old was as a wood turner, less than half mile from yhe cis building in m/c, and every morning i had to walk past the bone works. Its a smell that i will never forget, and words can never discribe it.
If anyone knows the area it was near Phillips rubbers (stick-a-soles) so calm down. Henry Wallworks and Duckhams Oils.

They sell it in Sainsbury's still - which reminds me of the smell of smoke from coal fires as walking up from town in the winter. Coal fires are banned these days, aren't they?:dflam:
