When we were engaged my mother in law to be used to dose my fiance with Liqufruta for a cold.

Well it was supposed to keep the colds away during the winter.....it had cod liver oil in it......and it tasted vile.
I used to hide when my mother was doling out this stuff, which incidentally my mother could not afford, but my Grandma used to buy it for us all to be dosed with. |

My first job at 15 years old was as a wood turner, less than half mile from yhe cis building in m/c, and every morning i had to walk past the bone works. Its a smell that i will never forget, and words can never discribe it.
If anyone knows the area it was near Phillips rubbers (stick-a-soles) so calm down. Henry Wallworks and Duckhams Oils. |

The smell of Woolworths on Blackburn Road . Wherever you went all Woolworths seem to have the same smell .
Same with the Co-ops . |

In the late 19 fourties we lived top of devonshire street and along with westwood street we had to suffer a awful smell from the metcalfes fertilzer plant I am told they are now based in oswaldtwisle hope the stink is not as bad as ours was
